San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for Halloween 2011 weekend... and beyond...

It's the weekend where Halloween follows on a Monday, so it'll be a weekend of shows celebrating one of burlesque's favorite holidays!

The Hubba Hubba Revue is starting off this weekend with a Halloween show, Nightmare on 13th Street, with their friends The Sizzling Sirens in Sacramento on Friday night. On Saturday, they'll be back in Oakland for their Halloween Bash 2011 at the Uptown Club. On Sunday, they'll be celebrating All Hallow's Eve at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. On Halloween night, they'll be back at the Uptown for their weekly show. The evil MCs, noted scientiscians, and other members of the show will be working extra hard on those experiments gone terribly, entertainingly wrong!

There's also the 3rd Annual Zombie Prom happening on Friday night at the Verdi Club in San Francisco. Lady Satan and Mynx d'Meanor will be providing the burlesque, and there will be live music from Slim Jenkins for all to enjoy. About our FEATURED Performer:
La Chica Boom is a performance artist, ecdysiast, and community organizer that explores Chican@ iconography, issues of race, gender and sexuality. Through the practice of ethnic drag, alternative dance, theatre, performance art, neo-burlesque, and clowning, La Chica Boom provides a biting satire that points to contemporary and historical escandalos.

ABOUT OUR DEBUT PERFORMERS:
Nomy Lamm http://www.nomylamm.com/

Kelly "Killer Killy" Dwyer is a shock-mock-punk-rock comedic performance artist from NYC. She has been featured on Comedy Central, David Letterman, Funny or Die and FunnynotSlutty.com. Killy's band: "KILL THE BAND" is set to record their first full length album in November and the "making of the album" will be the subject of a documentary by filmmaker Craig Schober. She produces and hosts ALTER EGO - Vaudeville Surreal, NYC's #1 monthly alternative variety show and is the co-executive producer and host of The Trachtenburg Variety Show at the world famous Peoples Improv Theater. www.KELLYBDWYER.com

Just a home town gal, Rena LaMarr knew someday the stage would be hers. The costumes from her grandparent’s trunk of forgotten memories, called to her as she played in the satin and silk. Rena fantasized about the adagio routines they performed up and down the east coast. After years of dance classes and “The School of Hard Knocks”, she made her debut with Boxcar Burlesque in 2010.
From the time Rena hit the stage, she has dazzled the audiences with her hand adorned costumes and her sultry routines. Her Rubenesk figure flows from seductive fan dances to bawdy Blues numbers. Rena LaMarr always leaves the audience satisfied but calling for more.

San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for October 20 to October 26, 2011

This upcoming week's burlesque shows are dominated by the arrival of Satans Angel and her Ta Ta Flambe Tour. This legendary performer will be performing at Friday's Red Hots show, a Saturday evening dinner, performance, and storytelling event at Disco Volante in Oakland, and she'll be teaching a Sunday class at Viracocha in San Francisco. Also read the previous post for information about these events.

On Friday night, the world ends. Or so it will at the Hubba Hubba Revue's The End of the World show that night! Lee Presson and the Nails will be the musical guest, as Devil Doll had to pull out. But it's not the end of the world! Well, the new Rapture date is "probably" Friday, so maybe it is! The only thing that is certain, though, is that you'll have a good time at this show, end of the world or not! And if there's a next week, don't forget that the Hubba Hubba Revue has their weekly show every Monday night at the Uptown in Oakland!

There will be two opportunities to sharpen up your drawing skills at Dr Sketchy's San Francisco this week. On Saturday, the model will be Vivian de Milo outfitted Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome style. On Tuesday, Ava Lanche will be your vampire bride. Both events are at 111 Minna Gallery. You can always just go and watch, but it's usually more fun to sketch the models.

That's the roundup for this upcoming week. Enjoy!

RED HOT BURLESQUE & DISCO VOLANTE PRESENT "TATAS FLAMBE TOUR" DINNER, PERFORMANCE & STORY TELLING

San Francisco burlesque legend and innovator, Satan’s Angel will perform and recount the fascinating stories of her life and career with excerpts from the play "Have Tassels Will Travel” accompanied by a multimedia retrospective of her life. This performance relives the wild exploits of her life and times, from dating Clint Eastwood to Janis Joplin. The nights begins with local sensation, Francine Dead, performing with flames flicking on her flesh and ending with the only chance to see Satan's Angel doing what has made her so famous: twirling and spinning fire from her nipple tassels!

"Angel is the once, current and future Queen of Burlesque. She will always command the respect and admiration of her peers and public and while she may be closely imitated she will never be surpassed."~~ L. Thomas

"The Burlesque Stars are Stars for good reason. They are top level performers with careful foot and body movements. They reveal the female body in a beautiful and artful way. More than that. I for one, love enslaving a man's heart and body. What better mirror of me on stage, than this. It is the dance of seduction, capture and conquest. Few reach that level in Burlesque, but when you watch a true Burlesque Star, you see why she is a star. And that my dear World, is Satan's Angel."Ashley Dearman Author

Chef Douglas Bernstein creates meals centered around the highest quality seasonally available and sustainable ingredients. His cuisine reflects the attention to the craft of cooking and respect for the ingredients themselves that is the hallmark of Bay Area food. For this event, the menu reflects the late bounty of lingering summer as it looks forward to the heartier flavors of fall and winter.

1st course: Wild Arugula Salad with shaved Parmesan cheese, pinenuts, and black currants

The Class from Hell with Satan's Angel!
SUN OCT 23rd **4pm**Viracocha 998 Valencia Street** $40 pre sale tickets at redhotsburlesque@gmail.com
415-672-4735

It's tough love, The Class from Hell, the good the bad and the ugly of Burlesque! Satan's Angel is known for being way too honest. Come prepared to work! She will be teaching you what it took her more than 50 years to learn in just 2 short hours!
She brings photo's of some... of the Queens of yesterday, and does a few moments on the History of Burlesque!

She will discuss the basics of working the stage including stage persona, choosing your music, stage lighting, makeup and hair, producers, photographers, wages, pageants, schools to take. She will also offer tips on a range of striptease specialties, such as how to work with your costume in your act; how to get the most out of panels, flirting with a duster/negligee ranging from 60 to 150 yards. You will even get a chance to play with in a hands on lesson. She will also instruct on Stocking and Glove Peels, working a feather boa and MORE!

She also teaches a few moments on her *Spinner Pasties* on why these are better then the average pair you buy.....a spinner for each person, so you'll know what to look for and where to buy them, and how they will help save your breasts!

So ladies you may think you've died while taking her class, and just went to hell. But being in hell with Satan's Angel would be like being in heaven a lurid and lusty paradise! So come and take her 2 hour class, if you dare!

San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for October 13 to October 19, 2011

Before mentioning anything else, there is a change of venue for one show. The Haight Street Hop has moved on down to Brisbane's 23 Club and is now known as simply "The Hop." The show will still be on Saturday, but it'll now start at 8:00 p.m. So don't go to the Milk Bar expecting to see some burlesque! There will be something happening there, but it won't be The Hop.

The start of this next week is one of the busiest in recent memory. On Friday alone there are five shows! On Saturday, there are four events, including an author event with Robert Strom in the afternoon. So you'll have to make some decisions. Whatever your choice, though, it looks like they're all good shows and events!

Wedding Anniversary Roast of Sparkly Devil and Bones this Monday at the Uptown in Oakland

It's hard to believe that this is the second San Francisco Fleet Week that has seen Sparkly Devil and Bones as a wedded couple, but it is true. Just a year ago, the Blue Angels were flying overhead as they were getting ready to get married at the DNA Lounge.

So in celebration of the first anniversary of this blessed event, the Hubba Hubba Revue will be hosting an anniversary roast this Monday, October 10, at the Uptown Club in Oakland. Aside from "The Diablos," the Hubba Hubba Revue's Kingfish will be the emcee, and featured roasters will include Lady Satan, Gorilla X, Kevin Hancock, Scission, Steve Hamilton, and Randy Johnson and Patina of Fromagique! With a a burlesque performance from Twinkletoes McGee.

So bring yourself, your laughing gear (aka lungs), and some friends to the Uptown Club on Monday night. You're invited! Doors open at 9:00 p.m., and the roasting will begin at 10:15. Entry is $5.00, and you will need to be 21 or older to attend.
