Little Minsky's Seventh Year Anniversary show tonight at Club Deluxe

That's right! It's the seventh anniversary of Little Minsky's! Lots of years of burlesque, music, magic, thrills, and fun in San Francisco. And tonight is a continuation of the party at Club Deluxe!

Tonight's show will feature some Little Minsky's favorites, including Alotta Boutté, Vienna La Rouge, La Chica Boom, Lady Satan, Honey le Bang, Ava Lanche, The Scarlet Ladders, Miss Balla Fire, Honey Lawless, and ElectriKat! Plus Coco Lectric is visiting from Austin, Texas! The host will be Trauma Flintstone. With music from Mr. Lonesome and The Bluebelles, contortion acts from Elliott and Christopher Lux, and that daredevil Molotov!

Club Deluxe is located at 1511 Haight Street in San Francisco (map). The doors open at 9:00 p.m., and the show starts at 10:00. The cover is still only $5.00.

We're thrilled to announce the return of legendary drag impresario Trauma Flintstone to host the festivities with special guest burlesque sensation Coco Lectric visiting from Austin, the ever-elegant Vienna la Rouge, sizzling La Chica Boom, exquisite Honey le Bang, scandalous Lady Satan, alluring Ava Lanche, luscious Miss Balla Fire, spectacular Honey Lawless and the thrilling ElectriKat. And we'll have some silvery sweet harmonies from Mr. Lonesome and The Bluebelles, circus-style diversions from acrobatic contortion duo Elliott and Christopher Lux, soulful songs from vocal virtuoso Alotta Boutte, delightful dancing from those bendable beauties The Scarlet Ladders and feats of astounding strangeness from sword-swallower Molotov. Cabaret Perilous thrills Oakland's Uptown Club on Saturday, March 3

This Saturday at the Uptown Club, see the Hubba Hubba Revue's Cabaret Perilous! In addition to the usual burlesque, cabaret, sideshow, and variety acts, they'll also be giving away tickets to the Dita Von Teese "Burlesque: Strip Strip Hooray!" variety show at the Fillmore in May, plus goodies and giveaways from the new Frederick Wiseman documentary, "Crazy Horse," which opens in the Bay Area in limited release this weekend (see previous post)!

Tonight will see the continuation of one of San Francisco's longest-running burlesque show and the start of a new show with boylesque and wrestling!

Little Minsky's Burlesque and Variety Show will be at Club Deluxe. Tonight's show will feature the usual special mix of out-of-town performers (Seattle's The Shangahai Pearl and juggler Nickolai Pirak), local ecdysiasts, and musical talent (Carly Ozard!). With boylesque provided by Bohemian Brethren, and wrestlers including the Puerto Rican Wolverine, Zogzar the Barbarian, and more, it'll be quite the event! If you'd like to be one of the lube wrestlers, they'll be taking sign-ups starting at 8:00 p.m.

Just a home town gal, Rena LaMarr knew someday the stage would be hers. The costumes from her grandparent’s trunk of forgotten memories, called to her as she played in the satin and silk. Rena fantasized about the adagio routines they performed up and down the east coast. After years of dance classes and “The School of Hard Knocks”, she made her debut with Boxcar Burlesque in 2010.
From the time Rena hit the stage, she has dazzled the audiences with her hand adorned costumes and her sultry routines. Her Rubenesk figure flows from seductive fan dances to bawdy Blues numbers. Rena LaMarr always leaves the audience satisfied but calling for more.

About our FEATURED Performer:
Dorian Faust, also known as "Burlesque's Basquiat", is a dynamic creatrix, explosive performance artist, and inspired pop-culture icon. She is a classically trained dancer,actress, and vocalist. She made her Burlesque debut in New Orleans in the winter of 2008, and it was there that she graced the stages of the Royal Sonesta Hotel, The Howlin' Wolf, and,The Marigny Theatre. In the fall of 2009, she became the first Burlesque performer to ever rock the stage of the Afro-Punk Tour with Saul Williams, CX Kidtronik, and Tchaka Diallo. On her two-year Burlesque anniversary she flew out to San Francisco, California and became a member of Sin Sisters Burlesque, and performs regularly with the Hubba Hubba Revue and Red Hots Burlesque. Most recently she has begun production on her own show, Livid Cult Burlesque Theatre, "The Bay Area's most subversively sexy indie Burlesque show"

Bombshell Betty is bringing back her Haute House Burlesque to the Milk Bar in San Francisco, this Thursday, May 26!

The last Haute House Burlesque was on March 25, 2009 before the show went on hiatus, so it's been over two years. And now it's back and better than ever! The Hubba Hubba Revue's The San Francisco Show is this Friday, April 22

San Francisco, open your Golden Gate! Here comes the Hubba Hubba Revue into town with The San Francisco Show this Friday night at the DNA Lounge!

Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair as you join your emcee Kingfish and the rest of the Revue for a show filled with humorous references to their home city. It'll be an evening of mirth and merriment with some of San Francisco's best burlesque performers including Alotta Boutté (pictured), Delilah, Mynx d'Meanor, Sparkly Devil, and even The Stripping Granny! And many more! Just take a look at the complete lineup below!

So head on over to the DNA Lounge this Friday, and leave your heart in San Francisco! The doors open at 9:00 p.m. And from the time they open until 9:30 at the box office, you can get discounted entry for just $10.00. First Friday Follies and Red Hots Burlesque for Friday, April 1

This coming Friday is going to be one of the most happening nights we've had in a while. I've already written about the Haight Street Hop (see prior post), but now here is information about two more events happening on the same night!

First Friday Follies presents Zombie Easter in 3-D! Yep, Juicy D. Light will be bringing the fabulousness of Easter to us in 3-D (without glasses)! Enjoy the three dimensional awesomeness of the Gomorran Social Aid and Pleasure Club! Be amazed by the performances of The Scarlet Ladders, Francine Dead, Little Eyeful, and more in spectacular 3-D!

It'll all be happening at the Stork Club in Oakland, 2330 Telegraph Avenue (map). The show starts at about 9:30, but get there early to get a good spot from which to see the show. It's a free show, but donations are welcome. So give freely!

After Red Hots Burlesque, you can run/bike/drive/ride over to Amnesia for Baxtalo Drom - Revolutionary Road! Produced by Sister Kate, this show melds together music, bellydance, and burlesque. This month's featured burlesque performer will be Dottie Lux of Red Hots Burlesque!

Curvicious Cabaret debuts this Thursday, March 10

This Thursday evening marks the debut of a new monthly burlesque show in San Francisco at the Blue Macaw: Curvicious Cabaret! The tagline for the show is "Burlesque That Bites Back!" So expect the show to have some teeth to it. Rawr!

Curvicious Cabaret is a Sparkly Devil Production, and Sparkly will also be hosting the show in the remodeled Blue Macaw club, which used to be 12 Galaxies. She's got quite a lineup scheduled! Performers will include The Scarlet Ladders, Revolva (from Portland), Lady Satan, Ruby White, Calamity Lulu, Delilah, Coco Noir, and Kiss Me Kate! Plus there will be prizes, trivia contests, and special guests!

A new burlesque show is always an exciting event that promises some unexpected and new twists. Sparkly is a longtime performer who has helped out with the Hubba Hubba Revue, so it'll be interesting to see what she has come up with for her own monthly show. She has probably been thinking about what she'd like to see in a show for some time now!

It will all kickoff this Thursday at 9:00 p.m. at the Blue Macaw, 2565 Mission Street in San Francisco (map). Cover will be $10.00, and you'll need to be 21 or older to attend.

This Monday night at the Uptown Club in Oakland, join the Hubba Hubba Revue as they welcome in a show full of special guests!

Dicky Luv and Fella Fem will be performing their special brand of gender-bending boylesque! They've got a big show coming up on Saturday, the "Drag King, Rat Pack tribute" at the White Horse Inn in Oakland, so perhaps they'll give the audience a preview. Also performing will be the Bay Area's Scarlet Ladders. This duo performs on elevated stages (ladders), which gives the audience a unique viewpoint from which to observe the Ladders' performance.

From Phoenix, Mercy Beaucoup will show us how they perform burlesque in the Valley of the Sun. It must be hot! Plus see Isabella Minx, belly dancer Rasa Vitalia, Bunny VonTail, Aletha L. Weapon, Laika Fox, and belly dancer Lisa Hyde!

It's the most fun you can have on a Monday night in the Bay Area. And the cover is still just $5.00!

The Scarlet Ladders at Red Hots Burlesque this Friday, February 25

The Scarlet Ladders will be making their Red Hots Burlesque debut this Friday at El Rio, which is located at 3158 Mission Street in San Francisco (map). They are a San Francisco-based cabaret/burlesque duo who perform on elevated stages (ladders).

In the next few months, they'll be performing at various shows around the area, including the Hubba Hubba Revue at the Uptown in Oakland, Curvicious at the Blue Macaw in San Francisco, and another Red Hots show in March. For more information about this group, please visit thescarletladders.com.

Also making her debut at RHB this week will be Babraham Lincoln of Sin Sisters Burlesque! You'll not want to wait four score and seven years to see this beauty!

About our debut performers:
Steps Above Cabaret! An answer to the desire for close-up entertainment in venues without a stage, The Scarlet Ladders were formed with the intent to perform in areas among and within the audience. The performers, mounted on elevated 'stages,' maximize the audience's sight-line without disruption. The spectators remain comfortably standing, seated or otherwise grouped, giving them the opportunity to relax and enjoy the show which might happen to be right next to them.

At least twice as hot as Mary Todd, Babraham Lincoln is a member of Sin Sisters Burlesque from Santa Cruz. She has recently performed at Uptown Hubba Hubba and First Friday Follies in Oakland. Babe has a taste for fine whiskey and tap dancing.

All classes are open to students of any age or gender who want to shake it on stage or in the bedroom. No previous dance or performance experience is required. If you would like to perform at the School of Shimmy Showcase Burlesque 101, 201 and Finshing Touches are mandatory classes. The Winter Showcase will take place on March 18th at 7:30 pm at El Rio as part of the famed weekly show, Red Hots Burlesque.

NEXT CLASS!

Feb 28th 7-9pm, Million Fishes Gallery- Pastie Making and Tassel Twirling: How do we do it?! Impress and amaze with the art of tassel twirling. In the first hour we will go over the history of tassel twirling and you will make your very own pair of pasties with tassels. No materials fees. Supplies will be provided, but if you have a pair of scissors and/or a hot glue gun; bring it! The second hour of class will teach you those much desired and sought out moves to get those tatas-a-twirlin'! We will go over several different methods and find which option works best for you. Be prepared to wear pasties on your body. The class is a safe and respectful environment where students should feel free to toss their inhabitions aside.

Followed by:

March 7th 7-9pm Finishing Touches: Rehearsal and Workshop
Participants get a chance to go through each of their numbers and address practical questions and concerns with bringing your first act to the famed Red Hots Burlesque (El Rio 3-18-11) stage. A professional photographer is on hand to take your posed or live photo!
