Are you a big Scotty the Blue Bunny fan? Who isn't? The big blue one is landing at Red Hots Burlesque this Wednesday evening to host the show!

In addition to Scotty, Lady Satan, Suppositori Spelling, Rubenesque Burlesque, and Dottie Lux will also be performing.

SF Bay Guardian, is the internationally prominent San Francisco
personality, consistently raising (and intentionally lowering) the bar for the alternative drag scene since 1997. Since her crowning of the Ms. Trannyshack 2002 title, some of her many career highs include performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland, in 2007) and Glastonbury Festival (England, in 2007 & 2009); a starring role as Jeremy Starr in the upcoming feature film "The Rise And Fall Of Jeremy Starr" ; and emceeing at the Folsom Street Fair in 2008-11.

Please welcome debut performance by visiting performer Cherry Contrary: originally heralds from Seattle but has spent the past seven years in London. Staying true to Burlesques original meaning of 'satire', her performances are haphazard, silly yet seductive, with a sprinkling of feminism and social commentary. Miss Contrary started her burlesque career in 2005 and has been performing consistently across the UK. Highlights have been performing at Leeds, Glastonbury, Secret Garden and Download Festivals, as well as opening for the Dresden Dolls on their UK tour and participating in the Skin Two Rubber Ball in 2007. She performs regularly for The Whoopee Club and Ohmygodimissyou!, two clubs forefronting the London new burlesque scene. She was also nominated for Performance Artist of the Year at the Erotic Awards 2006.

Chicken burlesque at Red Hots Burlesque this week, plus The Shanghai Pearl teaches at School of Shimmy

This week at Red Hots Burlesque, catch the latest in chicken burlesque! Yes, this Friday's show will be "Cluck be a Lady," and it will feature performances by the troupe Le Cancan Bijou, Vaudie Va Boom, Nomy Lamm, Kiss Me Kate, and Titland!

Tonight's show will have La Chica Boom, the New Eccentrics, Ruby Vixen, Laika Fox, Ellliot Contortion, and Dottie Lux! According to the information provided, chickens will not be ready until Friday, though.

Both shows will start at 7:30 p.m. at El Rio in San Francisco, which is located at 3158 Mission Street (map). The shows are generally a bit less than 90 minutes, so they should end by 9:00 p.m. Entry is on a sliding scale, so it'll be from $5.00 to $10.00 to get into the showroom.

Sin Sisters Burlesque tribute to Tom Waits this Saturday, December 3, at Santa Cruz's Catalyst Club

This Saturday at the Catalyst Club in Santa Cruz, Sin Sisters Burlesque have put together a tribute to Tom Waits featuring performances by Casey Castille and Vaudie Va-Boom in addition to acts by the Sisters themselves.

About our FEATURED Performer:
La Chica Boom is a performance artist, ecdysiast, and community organizer that explores Chican@ iconography, issues of race, gender and sexuality. Through the practice of ethnic drag, alternative dance, theatre, performance art, neo-burlesque, and clowning, La Chica Boom provides a biting satire that points to contemporary and historical escandalos.

Red Hots Burlesque with October's Featured Performer La Chica Boom this week

La Chica Boom will be making her first appearance as Red Hots Burlesque's Featured Performer for October this week at El Rio in San Francisco.

La Chica Boom is the founder and producer of Kaleidoscope Cabaret, An Annual National People of Color Cabaret, the first national event dedicated to cabaret and neo-burlesque performers of color in the U.S. She'll be performing on Friday evening, and visting ecdysiast from New York GiGi LaFemme will be performing on Wednesday evening. For a full list of performers for each night, please see the lineups below.

El Rio is located at 3158 Mission Street (map). Both Red Hots shows start at 7:30 p.m., and entry is on a sliding scale from $5.00 to $10.00.

Red Hots Burlesque this Wednesday and Friday, August 17 and 19

This week, Red Hots Burlesque is hosting a bachelorette party for one of the Bay Area's iconic burlesque performers, welcoming several visiting ecdysiasts, and overall just having a wonderful shimmy-shaking time at their two shows at El Rio in San Francisco!

On Wednesday, August 17, performers will include Uni and Her Ukelele, Vaudie Va Boom, Baltimore's The Dandy Vagabonds, and more!

On Friday, August 19, the show will feature a bachelorette party for Ophelia Coeur de Noir, and performances by Delilah, Ava Lanche, Australia's Georgia Ruby, and even more!

Sparkly Devil performs at Cabaret Perilous this Saturday, May 28

This Saturday night at the Uptown Club in Oakland, it'll be time for that show that features circus sideshow acts, belly dancers, contortionists, magicians, and burlesque dancers. That show is Cabaret Perilous!

This will also be your last chance to see our very own Sparkly Devil perform before she heads to Las Vegas to compete to be the 2011 Queen of Burlesque at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend next week! Let's send her off with three whoops and a loud, "Hooray!"

And of course there will be lots of other talented performers such as contortionist Nobutaka, magician Hernan Cortez, the Displayed Labors Sideshow, and Lee Presson's Fistful of Nails! Three times the Red Hots Burlesque this week!

It's known that Red Hots Burlesque is San Francisco's only weekly burlesque show. But starting this week, they'll be having two different show each week! One on Wednesdays, and one on Fridays. Plus, the first week of the month they'll have their "Go Deep" lube wrestling and burlesque event on Thursday nights. So this week there will be three shows Wednesday through Friday evenings at El Rio! Let's look at the details.

On Wednesday, May 4, RHB kicks off their weekly Wednesday evening show at El Rio, which is located at 3158 Mission Street in San Francisco (map). Like their usual Friday show, the Wednesday shows will start at 7:30 p.m. and the cover will be on a sliding scale between $5.00 and $10.00. For the premiere, Dottie Lux will be welcoming Alotta Boutté, Miss Balla Fire, Vaudie Va Boom (of the Can-Cannibals), and Honey Lawless to the stage of Red Hots Burlesque Wednesdays at El Rio!

Glenn Danzig tribute at First Friday Follies on Friday, November 5

This month's First Friday Follies will feature a tribute to Glenn Danzig! The Follies will take place at the Stork Club in Oakland at 9:00 p.m., and it will feature performances from Twinkletoes McGee, Mz. K of F’risqué, Madam Chartreuse, Miss Balla Fire, Ophelia Coeur de Noir, Dixie DeLish, Vivi Ennui, Vaudie Va-Boom of The Can-Cannibals, and Lady Satan!

The burlesque performances will be preceded by a live band, Earth AD, playing the music of Danzig, Samhain, and the Misfits from 9:30 p.m. to 10:00! So be there or be square!

This month's show will be the last one produced by Cupcake, who has been involved in the Follies since its inception. She'll be devoting more time to her bakery business, and she'll also be performing with the Twilight Vixen Revue. All future shows will be produced and promoted by Juicy D. Light of Rubenesque Burlesque fame, who will be co-hosting this show with Madam Chartreuse. So wish Cupcake the best this Friday and thank her for all of the Follies that she's put together these past several years!
