Besides the show on Friday, which will also feature the Can Cannibals, Vaudie Va Boom, Sheba Queen of the Night, Miss Twin Peaks, and Dottie Lux, there is the first show of the week which happens tonight. Rosalynn La Roux, Truvy Trollop, Miss Cherry Contrary, Kentucky Fried Woman, and Martha the Failed Actress are the ecdysiasts you'll see gracing the El Rio stage tonight, along with the aforementioned Dottie Lux.
Both shows will start at 7:30 p.m. El Rio is located at 3158 Mission Street in San Francisco (map). Entry to the shows is on a sliding scale from $5.00 to $10.00.
If you'd like to help Dottie Lux and Rosalynn La Roux help to pay the emergency vet bills for their adorable pooches, they're having a "Help Burlesque Babes with Vet Bills" fundraiser at El Rio from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Please welcome debut performance by visiting performer Cherry Contrary: originally heralds from Seattle but has spent the past seven years in London. Staying true to Burlesques original meaning of 'satire', her performances are haphazard, silly yet seductive, with a sprinkling of feminism and social commentary. Miss Contrary started her burlesque career in 2005 and has been performing consistently across the UK. Highlights have been performing at Leeds, Glastonbury, Secret Garden and Download Festivals, as well as opening for the Dresden Dolls on their UK tour and participating in the Skin Two Rubber Ball in 2007. She performs regularly for The Whoopee Club and Ohmygodimissyou!, two clubs forefronting the London new burlesque scene. She was also nominated for Performance Artist of the Year at the Erotic Awards 2006.

About our FEATURED Performer:
Vaudie's first time performing burlesque was her freshman year in high school in a production of "Guys and Dolls."She has been involved with over a thousand events in hundreds of venues between Southern California and Northern Washington. She wants to learn all aspects of "show business," and let's just say she's well on her way.
Not only does she direct the world's only cannibalistic can-can troupe called The Can-Cannibals, but she is also the co-creator of the dynamic burlesque duo The Dishrag Dollies, dances with the esteemed French Can-Can troupe from San Francisco, Le CanCan Bijou, and performs solo burlesque, cabaret and sideshow acts. On top of that she produces concerts, events, and her own variety show called the Punk Rock Cabaret for the Oakland Pyrate Punx. She will undoubtedly bring a huge smile and a unique freshness to all of her endeavors.
