Black Friday burlesque! The Hubba Hubba Revue's Murder at SF's DNA Lounge

Tired of crowds at the store competing for the last tablet computer? Still trying to work off the turkey dinner? Need a break from the guests who just won't leave? Head on out to see the Hubba Hubba Revue show "Murder" this Friday at San Francisco's DNA Lounge!

The show will feature several visiting performers. From Reno, Reagan Riot! And returning from New York, one-time Little Minsky co-producer The Flying Fox! Plus burlesque legend Madame E! Plus there will be a treasure trove of local performers such as Kiss Me Kate, Truvy Trollop, Mynx d'Meanor, Bunny Pistol, Miss Balla Fire, Lady Satan, Honey Penny, Rosalynn La Roux, Gorilla X, and more!

The doors open at 9:00 p.m., and the show is scheduled to start at 10:15. The DNA Lounge is located at 375 11th Street in San Francisco (map). General admission is $15.00. Hubba Hubba Revue this weekend: "Wild Things" and Bootie SF

This weekend, the Hubba Hubba Revue will be having two shows at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco: "Wild Things!" on Friday night, May 20, and a show with Bootie SF on Saturday night, May 21!

Friday's show will also be a 10th birthday celebration of Gorilla X (pictured)! He started out in May 2001 with a performance with Fisherman's Famous Burlesque in San Francisco, then wound up performing at the very first Tease-O-Rama in New Orleans. Since then, he's performed with No Doubt and become the world's foremost burlesque show gorilla!

There will also be some special guests from far away. Among these performers will be Baby Blue Bergman from Australia, Lulu Bell from Seattle, and Ray Gunn (of the Stage Door Johnnies) from Chicago. Also performing in this animal-themed show will be Scotty the Blue Bunny, Lola Martinet (of the Dolls of Doom), The Indra, and many, many more of your favorite burlesquers!

For your entertainment, the musical guest for the evening will be Lost Dog Found! They'll most likely perform starting at 10:15 before the burlesque, so don't get there too late if you want to hear some hot swing!

And then on Saturday night, the Hubbas will return to the DNA Lounge to perform a show with Bootie SF! Yes, it'll be a night of mashups, both in terms of music and burlesque!

The festivities start at 9:00 p.m., but if you arrive before 10:00, entrance is only $8.00. Otherwise the cover is $15.00. And if you're one of the first 100, you'll get a free Bootie mashup CD!

The burlesque show will start at 11:00, and will be hosted by Kingfish and Comrade Tang. Performers will include Kiss Me Kate, Oleeander Moon, Bunny Pistol, Lola Martinet, and Mynx d'Meanor!

Bootie SF can get pretty crowded, so if you want to get in without waiting in a long line, get there early. Here is the show information!

Bootie SF: Hubba Hubba Revue

At 11 PM, Hubba Hubba Revue - Bootie's favorite burlesque variety show - returns with a special mashup-themed show! Hosted by Kingfish, the teasing and tantalizing show will feature five of the Bay Area's sexiest and sauciest burlesque performers. Also in the main room will be DJ Tripp, who will be spinning a feature set of all your favorite mashups.

Also on the main floor, from New York City's famous WFMU, it's guest DJ Billy Jam. SF's own John!John! wlll also be on the decks, making it a party! And in the upstairs room, it's Apocalypso. Dance like it's the end of the world as DJs Six, Candy, and Starr spin slamming sets of the best indie electro.

Launched in 2003 in San Francisco by A Plus D -- aka DJs Adrian & Mysterious D - Bootie was the first club night dedicated solely to the burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup -- and is now the biggest mashup event in the world, with regular parties in several cities on four continents. The Moholy Ground Project, Inc. is proud to present the official launch of Moholy Ground Magazine, a journal of photography that creates unique opportunities for artists from the San Francisco Bay Area to gain exposure, experience, and present significant new work in a stunning print format. Issue 1 of Moholy Ground Magazine hit the stands in May of 2010 and features the work of Gabriel Wheeler, Leo Docuyanan, Amal Mongia, and John Coyne.

Issue 2 of Moholy Ground Magazine is about to be unleashed and the magazine is celebrating with a 10-day exhibit and two parties at Root Division. Work from photographers featured in issue 2 (including Trevor Traynor, Unnikrishnan Raveendranathan, Josie Ramondetta, Scott Walker, Scott MacDonald, and Richard H. Hart) will be on display as well as work by Gabriel Wheeler, Leo Docuyanan, and more.

The exhibit runs from January 27th through February 5th and kicks off with an opening reception on Saturday, January 29th, featuring DJs Boom Bostic (BAM), Droogs (Mansfield Aviator), and Mike Bee (KUSF / Amoeba Music), a video collage installation by Gabriel Wheeler, and tarot card readings by James Haas. Don’t miss the Moholy Ground Photo Booth Orgy manned by staff photographers.

The closing party on February 5th is an event not to be missed, full of burlesque, music, variety acts, a repeat appearance of the Photo Booth Orgy, and more video collage work from Gabriel Wheeler. Mistress of Ceremonies Odessa Lil will present a bevy of burlesque beauties and vaudeville shenanigans with The Indra, sAssy HotBuns, Josie Starre, Lily LaRouge, Bootsy LaRue, Red Velvet, Lezzie McFaggerson, Darky and the Round Guy, and McPuzo and Trotsky. Plus, special guest band Nero Nava! Cut a rug with DJs Boom Bostic (BAM) and Count Fink (The Flakes).

Bay Area premiere of Fishnet Follies, Monday, March 22, 2010

It started in San Diego several years ago when Mynx d'Meanor moved to San Diego and thought that it needed a show that would bring together all of the area's burlesque troupes plus special out-of-town guests. Thus was Fishnet Follies conceived. For several years, she produced shows such as Breastacular! Breastacular! and the very popular Comic Strip.

Now, she's returned to the Bay Area and brought the Follies with her! Along with her co-producer Flame Cynders, Mynx d'Meanor is proud to present the the first Fishnet Follies show at the Uptown Club in Oakland this coming Monday night, March 22. They've lined up some local burlesquers to perform, and some very special guest performers from across the Pacific!

From the Land of the Rising Sun, Violet Eva will be performing! A headliner with the Murasaki Babydoll burlesque troupe, as well as being their director and choreographer, she won the "Best Debut" award at 2007 Miss Exotic World.

Also performing will be jazz and cabaret singer Maki Rinka, fresh from her performances at SXSW. In a Japan Times Online article, she jokingly said that she likes "to play at a place where people can drink and eat food and talk, because my music goes well with alcohol (laughs)."
