San Francisco area burlesque for April 7 to April 13, 2010

Let's take a look at the burlesque calendar and see what we've got coming up!

Little Minsky's has a nice mix of performers this Thursday at Club Deluxe in San Francisco. They usually do. It's a great atmosphere there, and the acts are top-notch.

Ooh! sASSy Hotbuns has a show she's producing at Winters Tavern in Pacifica on Friday night! And there's no cover! Of course, donations are welcome. It might be nice to stroll along the beach before the show (bundled up, of course) with someone special!

Booze, Broads, and Hotrods presented by the Bombshells is this Saturday at the SFO Clarion Hotel in Millbrae. La Cholita from Los Angeles is the special guest burlesque performer. They'll have lots of bands, a car show, and DJ dancing. It's a great event for all of you into rockabilly!

Johnny Crash has an exhibition of his burlesque photos this Saturday at Voila Cafe in Oakland. Art and burlesque is a natural fit, especially photography. I bought a photo of Flame Cynders from Johnny's vendor table at the last big Hubba Hubba Revue show. He's shot some great photos!

If you hadn't noticed, Gigi d'Flower is pregnant! Yes, some of you may not have noticed when she's performed recently, but she is due to deliver a future burlesque star soon! And Monday, you can join in the joyous occasion at the Hubba Hubba Revue show at the Uptown Club in Oakland.

Lastly, next Tuesday Dr. Sketchy's San Francisco is presenting a tribute to the many faces of David Bowie. Kitty von Quim and Honey Penny will be the models who will channel the Bowie of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Plus they'll perform! Perfection. :-)

• Thursday, April 8: Little Minsky's at Club Deluxe in San Francisco, 1511 Haight Street. See one of the longest running monthly burlesque and variety shows in the Bay Area. This month, the featured burlesque performers will be Twilight Vixen Revue, Vienna la Rouge, Sparkly Devil, Honey Lawless, Pin Key Lee, and Mai Tai. Providing the variety will be Sheelagh Murphy (Cabaret chanteuse), Wendy Marlatt (World fusion belly dance), Joan Cerqueiro (Original Spanish ballads), Honey Mahogany (Drag vocal diva), and Michael McIntosh & Daniel Fabricant (Piano genius and bassist extraordinaire of The Cottontails). The emcee will be Kingfish of Hubba Hubba Revue! Doors at 9pm, show at 10. $5, 21+ w/ID.
  


• Friday, April 9: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street. Dottie Lux brings you a different show every single week! Each event promises the seductive and spicy, absurd and amusing all from local and visiting talent. Show at 7:30pm. $5-10, sliding scale. 21+ w/ID.


• Also Friday: sASSy's Seaside Burlesque at Winters Tavern in Pacifica, 1522 Francisco Blvd. Join sASSy Hotbuns for her very own show! See the sexy, salty, sirens shimmy and shake the night away! Starring Bunny Pistol, Kiss Me Kate, Pin Key Lee, Miss Mae Western! Josie Starre will be your sexy stage kitten. Odessa Lil will be the Mistress of Cermonies and will navigate your seaside adventure! Show at 9pm. No cover, but donations are encouraged and welcome. 21+ w/ID.


• Saturday, April 10: Booze, Broads, and Hotrods #12 at the Clarion Hotel San Francisco Airport in Millbrae, 401 E. Millbrae Avenue. Pre-1965 car show & rockabilly music festival, presented by The Bombshells. Music by Carlos and the Bandidos, Texas Steve, Wild Santos, Rhythm Shakers, and Jailbreak. DJ music from DJs Tanoa Samoa Boy and Don't Scratch the Wax. Burlesque from La Cholita, Miss Viva Las Vegas 2007! 3pm to 1:30am. $10 admission with car entry, $20 walk in admission at the door, $18 pre-sale admission available at www.boozebroadsandhotrods.net. Car show all ages, upstairs ballroom is 21+.
  


• Also Saturday: A Little Exp0sure - The Burlesque Photography of Johnny Crash at Voila Cafe in Oakland, 510 Derby Avenue. Join local burlesque photographer Johnny Crash for a celebration of the hard working, exciting, and magical women of Burlesque in pictures! 6 to 9pm.
  


• Monday, April 12: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. It's a baby shower for Gigi d'Flower! Featuring Honey Lawless, Pin Key Lee, sASSy Hotbuns, Honeysuckle Moses, Lady Satan, Peaches Velour, Sparkly Devil, Honey LeBang, Zip the What-Is-It?, and everyone's favorite drunks/Au Pairs, Kingfish & Eddie! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15ish. $5, 21+ w/ID.


• Tuesday, April 13: Dr. Sketchy's San Francisco presents a Burlesque Tribute to David Bowie at 111 Minna Gallery, 111 Minna Street. Sketch Kitty von Quim and Honey Penny as several incarnations of Bowie! 7 to 10pm. $10 general admission, $7 students/teachers. 21+ w/ID.
