But someone whose pictures ARE good is Johnny Crash. If you've been to burlesque shows in the past year, odds are you've seen him near the stage with his camera equipment or at his vendor table at some of the shows. He's one of the coolest cats around, and very friendly! You can take a look at some of his personal photos at his Flickr account, and his MySpace page.
This Saturday at Viola Cafe in Oakland, there will be an exhibition of Johnny's photos from 6 to 9pm. So head on over, take a look at some terrific burlesque photos, and enjoy some of the delicious juices, smoothies, and food at the cafe!
Here's his message inviting you all to his showing:
As a fan of Burlesque, my images attempt to capture the raw emotion and electricity conveyed in performance, elements I had previously documented when working with motorcycles and live bands. Yet, never have I seen the same level of beauty and power exhibited so consistently as I had in the work of the Burlesque performers. The highlight of my experience has been getting to know the women behind the personas. I have grown to admire and appreciate the level of artistry, dedication and passion they bring to to the stage with each performance. It is their essence that inspires my work.
So join me at Viola Cafe for - A Little Exposure - A celebration of the hard working, exciting, and magical women of Burlesque.
