San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for the weekend of February 4-6, 2011

This is a special Groundhog's Day edition of the weekly show round-up. This following will be a listing of the shows for this weekend, and it'll be followed up with another post including the shows for early next week.

This is necessitated because all of us here at the SFBR have caught the flu bug, in case you were wondering. If you notice anything that reads funny, blame the bug!

For those of you who are healthy and are able to attend shows, there's a lot of good ones coming up! Without further ado, here are the shows happening this weekend around the Bay Area.

• Friday, February 4: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Red Hots Burlesque brings you the "city's best" bump and grind at the "happiest hour" in the bay! This week, the show will feature performances by Dottie Lux, La Chica Boom, Virginia Suicide, Sid Scenic, Sugar Magnolia & The Empress! 7:30pm. $5-$10 slinging scale. 21+.


• Also Friday: sASSy's Seaside Burlesque at Winters Tavern in Pacifica, 1522 Francisco Boulevard (map). It's time for you to see the hottest thing in Pacifica! Join hostess Dottie Lux of Red Hots Burlesque as Sheba, Isabella Minx, Francine Dead, Miss Mae Western and sASSy Hotbuns !are going to shimmy and shake your winter chills away! Door at 8pm, show at 9. No cover. 21+.


• Also Friday: First Friday Follies - Back in Black at The Stork Club in Oakland, 2330 Telegraph Avenue (map). Help celebrate Black History Month at First Friday Follies! Join your hostess Juicy D. Light as she welcomes performers Simone de la Getto, Monifa, Lola Vauntz, The Empress, Dorian Faust, Cupcake and Lil Eyeful, Brock Cocker, Miss Magnoliah Black, and Coco Noir. 9pm. No cover, but donations are welcome. 21+.


• Saturday, February 5: Moholy Ground Magazine Neo-Vaudeville Bash & Photography Show Closing Party at Root Division in San Francisco, 3175 17th Street (map). Join Mistress of Ceremonies Odessa Lil for an evening of burlesque, music, vaudeville, and photography! Burlesque with Mynx d'Meanor, The Indra, sASSy Hotbuns, Josie Starre, Lily LaRouge, Bootsy LaRue, Red Velvet, and Lezzie McFaggerson! Music from Nero Nava! Vaudeville fun with McPuzo & Trotsky and Darky & the Round Guy! DJs Boom Bostic (BAM) and Count Fink (The Flakes)! Video collage by Gabriel Wheeler! Photography on display by Trevor Traynor, Unnikrishnan Raveendranathan, Josie Ramondetta, Scott Walker, Scott MacDonald, Richard H. Hart, Gabriel Wheeler, Leo Docuyanan, and more. 7pm to 11pm. $5 to $20 sliding scale.


• Also Saturday: Burlesque n' Brass - Groundhog Day Edition at Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland, 1621 Telegraph Avenue (map). Join the Hot Pink Feathers and their musical cohorts Blue Bone Express at Cafe Van Kleef for sets and sets of not only live, but exceedingly lively music and dance! Doors at 8:30pm, show at 9:30. $10, and tips warmly encouraged. 21+.


• Also Saturday: Blazing Burlesque Bingo at Vega's Nightclub and Sports Bar in Old Sacramento, 910 2nd Street (map). Audrey Deluxe brings her popular Burlesque Bingo to Blazing Burlesque! With host Stephanie Hyden, and performances by Miss Lizzy D. Vine, Violet Streak, Tasty Temptress, Mizz Nikky, and Dangerous Delilah! With house band The Afterlife. Doors at 9pm, show at 10. $5 general admission, VIP packages available. Call (916) 660-6211. 21+.


• Sunday, February 6: Go Deep II at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Red Hots Burlesque, El Rio & Chef Gino present El Rio's 1st Superbowl Party! Trivia and games hosted by Red Hots Burlesque's Dottie Lux, with burlesque by sASSy Hotbuns, Ruby Whtie, Lady Satan, and more! With Frito boats, guac and chips, and Nana's cold chicken bites to eat. 3pm. No cover, but $4 to $10 donation for the food. 21+.
