Even though Valentine's Day 2011 is now history, there will still be an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on love in all its forms this Saturday at the Shattuck Down Low in Berkeley. It's time for Burlesque Moulin's "Amour, The Many Faces of Love."
The Mistress of Ceremonies will be Alotta Boutté, and the cast will include many of the Bay Area's top burlesque performers such as Red Hots Burlesque's Dottie Lux, Delilah, Sin Sisters Burlesque's Madam Chartreuse and Miss Balla Fire, Barbary Coast Burlesque's Bunny Pistol, Lady Monster, and Ophelia Coeur de Noir. Plus hear the vocal stylings of Casey Castille and Monique! And there will be more!
The Shattuck Down Low is located at 2284 Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley (map), and it's within a few blocks of the Downtown Berkeley BART station. The doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the show starts at 8:30. Prices range from $7.00 for Cal students, to $12 for general admission (add $8 for a glass of champagne), to $50 for a table for two (includes a bottle of champagne), to $160 for a booth for six (includes two bottles of champagne). All of the details are below, and tickets may be purchased in advance at www.shattuckdownlow.com or burlesquemoulinfeb.eventbrite.com.
Also, note that Red Hots Burlesque School of Shimmy will be offering a Burlesque 101 class on Sunday, February 20, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Shattuck Down Low. Discounted tickets for the class will be sold the night of the show. If you have any questions or would like to reserve a spot in the class, you may email Dottie Lux at redhotsburlesque@gmail.com.
And hang around after the show for the after party, which will start at 10:30! It's free if you're there before 11:00, and you'll be able to groove to the music of DJ El Diablo, who will be playing music from Parisian nightclubs. Oui, oui!
