SF Bay Area burlesque for the week of March 2, 2009

The ole Big Kahuna will possibly be doing his civic duty the week and next, so he won't be out and about enjoying all the fabulous burlesque shows. But that doesn't mean that you'll have to miss them!

Here is a listing of this week's events. Seems to be a solid lineup of shows with some of the best talent in the area performing. And, hey! It's Dottie Lux's birthday! Woot!

• Monday, March 2, 2009: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. Come in from the rain and wind and be blown away by Kiss Me Kate, Kiki Bomb, sASSy Hotbuns, Delilah, Lola Vauntz, P-Raw, Calamity Lulu, Penny Lux, Jane Bondedge, and Dottie Lux from School of Shimmy! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15ish. $5, 21+ w/ID.


• Wednesday, March 4: Barbary Coast Burlesque at Annie's Social Club in San Francisco, 917 Folsom Street. Bunny Pistol presents a celebration of "My Very First Time!" Starring Dottie Lux, Ruby White, Bunny Pistol, sASSy Hotbuns, Juicy D. Light, and
  Kiss Me Kate! With your host, Eva von Slut. Doors at 8pm, show at 9:30. $10, 21+ w/ID.


• Friday, March 6: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street. Clown Town Birthday Bash! Help Dottie Lux celebrate turning 25...AGAIN! Everyone's a clown in the show... Simone De La Ghetto as Brown Clown... Bunny Pistol as Bunny Pist Off
  Lady Satan as Satan's Clown... Virginia Suicide as Suicide The Clown... Delilah as Clowns Freak Me Out! All hosted by the birthday girl herself. Show at 7:30pm. $5-10 sliding scale, 21+ w/ID.


• Also Friday: First Friday Follies at the Stork Club in Oakland, 2330 Telegraph Avenue. The free, post art walk show will feature birthday girl Ophelia Coeur de Noir, Coconuts, legendary Isis Starr, Cupcake and Little Eyeful, Monifa, Peaches Velour, BB Dahl, musical guests The Tantrums, and your emcee, Margaret France. Doors at 8pm, show at 9. Free, donations encouraged, 21+ w/ID.


• Saturday, March 7: Burlesque n' Brass at Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland, Hot Pink Feathers & Blue Bone Express with Guest Host: Cherry Galette! Doors at 8:30, show at 9:30. $10, 21+ w/ID.
