San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for the week of November 16 to 22, 2011

One of the joys of living in one of the larger cities with burlesque is getting to see traveling performers. This week, Le Fay of Tasmania in Australia will be swinging through our area, and she'll be performing at both nights of Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio on Wednesday and Friday. This year, she was named Miss Burlesque Hobart, which is a city in Tasmania.

If you are or were into new wave music, Curvicious Cabaret will have a burlesque tribute to some of the classics of that era. The show will be on Thursday evening at Blue Macaw in San Francisco's Mission. Visiting from Los Angeles, former Bay Area resident Mariel a la Mode will be one of the performers.

On Saturday, Burlesque Moulin's show Cirque de Pagan at the Shattuck Down Low in Berkeley will be a celebration of Goddesses and the Divine Feminine. It's their last show of this year, and they are offering a 15% discount if you buy your tickets online. See below for the details.

Debauchery will be having their monthly show on Sunday at the White Horse Inn in Oakland, and this one will be supporting Project TransAction, which is an independent leatherworking and screenprinting company.

On Monday, Bombshell Betty and her Burlesqueteers will be bringing their show featuring sports-themed burlesque to the Uptown Club. If you missed this show when it was at the Elbo Room in San Francisco, this will be your last chance to be an athletic supporter!

• Thursday, November 17: Curvicious Cabaret's Boobs Don't Cry at the Blue Macaw in San Francisco, 2565 Mission Street (map). San Francisco's Curvicious Cabaret - the show that brought you burlesque interpretations of Saturday Night Live & George Carlin's 7 dirty words - now presents Boobs Don't Cry: an all-star burlesque tribute to your favorite new wave classics! With performances by Mariel a la Mode! (Los Angeles), Ava Lanche, Babraham Lincoln, Josie Starre, Lady Satan, Laika Fox, and Sparkly Devil! And special musical guest, Devil's Drivel! • Friday, November 18: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). The second show of the week! Come celebrate the birthdays of performers Francine Dead and Nicki Sparxx! Performances by RHB's November Featured Performer Kiss Me Kate, Miss Burlesque Hobart 2011 Le Fay (Tasmania, Australia), and Ava Lanche! Show hosted by Dottie Lux and Honey Lawless. 7:30pm. $5 to $10, sliding scale. 21+.


• Saturday, November 19: Burlesque Moulin presents Cirque de Pagan at the Shattuck Down Low in Berkeley, 2284 Shattuck Avenue (map). It's their last show of the year, and a sexy celebration of Goddesses and The Divine Feminine! Featuring Isis Starr as the Goddess of Ceremonies! Plus performances by Ginger Skyye, Artemis, Siren Sapphire (Tygre Rose) w/Penny Lux and Ginger O'Shea, Vera DeVille, Alotta Boutte, Talli the Tattooed Tart, Casey Castille, and May (Tribal Belly Dance)! • Monday, November 21: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue (map). Join Bombshell Betty and her Burlesqueteers for an evening of sports-themed burlesque at The Uptown Club! Football, baseball, basketball, soccer, synchronized swimming, a tassel-twirling marathon, zombie cheerleaders, roller derby, hula-hooping, aerobics, sports on TV & more! Performances by Bombshell Betty, Belle Phenomene, Boosty La Rue, Candy Apples, Cooki Crumbles, Eve Von Gelica, Hazel DeVille, Lady Frantasy, Little Bumpy Foo Foo, Red Delicious, Red Velvet, and Trixie fou laurant!
