San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for August 25 - August 31, 2011

This week, The Amazing Bendable Posable Dolls of Doom (aka Dolls of Doom) are visiting the Bay Area from their home base in Chicago! They'll be touching down at the Red Hots Burlesque and Hubba Hubba Revue Summer Camp shows on Friday evening. They were winners of the "Most Comical" award at this year's Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas, and they were voted "Best Variety" last year.

Kitten on the Keys will be the model at Saturday's Dr. Sketchy's San Francisco drawing event on Saturday. She'll be wearing a lot of wigs and will be engaging in all long poses! This is your chance to draw her before she heads back on tour in France and the United Kingdom! She'll also be playing piano at Madrone Art Bar at 500 Divisadero (at Fell Street) on Thursday night (tonight) from 6:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. in a free show for those 21 and older.

Also happening on Saturday will be Original Sin Burlesque's show at the Space Lounge at the Saturn Cafe in Berkeley. One of the advantages of this show is that it's an 18 and older show. So if you aren't quite yet 21, this is a burlesque show that you can legally attend!

And on Monday, Miss Honey Penny will be putting together the Miss Honey Penny's All-Star U.S.O. Extravaganza at the Hubba Hubba Revue show at the Uptown in Oakland. It'll be a collection of the Bay Area's best ecdysiasts performing to help raise funds for Adopt A US Soldier.

• Friday, August 26: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Come with your sense of humor, get ready to enter the pink bubble. Red Hots Burlesque brings you the "city's best" bump and grind at the "happiest hour" in the bay and newly noted "#3 burlesque show in the country to take your girl to"! This Friday, Tila Von Twirl and Teddy Bare of the Dolls of Doom will be performing, along with Andi Stardust, Delilah, Monifa, and Trixxie Carr! 7:30pm. $5 to $10, sliding scale. 21+.
  


• Also Friday: Hubba Hubba Revue's Summer Camp at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco, 375 11th Street (map). Join the happy campers of San Francisco's biggest, wildest BURLESQUE & variety revue as they take you back to another sexy summer at beautiful Camp Hubbawatha! Backpack burlesque, campfire comedy and astonishing acts of nature with Chicago's The Amazing Bendable Posable Dolls Of Doom! (Teddy Bare, Tila Von Twirl, and Lola Martinet), Bunny Pistol, Sparkly Devil, Lady Satan, Honey Lawless, Gigi D'Flower, Kitty von Quimm, Babraham Lincoln, Emma Nation, sASSy Hotbuns, Gorilla X, Bombshell Betty's Burlesqueteers, and The Hubba Hubba Go-Go C.I.T.'s! • Also Friday: Baxtalo Drom's Haberdasher's Ball at Amnesia Bar in San Francisco, 853 Valencia Street (map). Once again Baxtalo Drom's gypsy caravan has traveled over deserts, mountains and seas to peddle an eclectic sampling of obscure trinkets and treasures for you. We've got clowns with curves, dancing ladies with nerve, and music men with swerve! So stick a coin in your purse, a flower in your hat, and come enjoy and night of buxom baubles, tasty trifles and glorious gimcrack! Featuring musical act Inspector Gadje, sideshow with The New Eccentrics, belly dancers Radjuli and Kimberly Mackoy, The Scarlet Ladders, and Mistress of Ceremonies Dottie Lux! With DJ Delachaux! 9pm. $5 before 10pm, $10 after. 21+.
  

• Saturday, August 27: Dr. Sketchy's San Francisco presents Wigged Out with Kitten on the Keys at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco (map). Kitten on the Keys is a notoriously sassy burlesque personality in the Bay Area and beyond. She’s a star of the stage and screen, and for this event she’s going to bring on the WIGS. Bring your best wig drawrrring implements for this one! All long poses! In San Francisco, Dr Sketchy’s gives you a monthly opportunity to draw rhinestone encrusted burlesque performers, bearded ladies, cute girls on bicycles and anything else we can conjure up to tantalize your pencils. 5pm to 8pm. $12 general admission, $10 students/teachers. 21+.


• Also Saturday: Original Sin Burlesque at the Space Lounge in the Saturn Cafe in Berkeley, 2175 Allston Way (map). Original Sin Burlesque is back at Saturn Cafe in Berkeley! Come out and watch the ladies do what they do best and sip on one of the new spiked cherry colas! Come early to get a good seat and try one of Saturn’s Signature Burgers. Lounge opens at 8pm, and show at 9pm. $7. 18+.
  


• Monday, August 29: Miss Honey Penny's All-Star U.S.O. Extravaganza at Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue (map). An amazing *star-spangled* showcase of the very best in Bay Area burlesque --marched, drilled and polished to perfection by none other than Miss Honey Penny herself! And every dollar at the door goes directly to Adopt A US Soldier (www.adoptaussoldier.org)! Performances by Miss Honey Penny, Kiss Me Kate, Lady Satan, Casey Castille, Miss Mae Western, Vera DeVille, Delilah, Sparkly Devil, and Lily LeRouge! Hosted by Kingfish & Lee Presson! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15. $5. 21+.


• Wednesday, August 31: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Join Dottie Lux for Red Hots Burlesque as it expands to its second day of the week! A new and different show twice a week, including bizarre beauties, senseless sideshow, drag, burlesque and comedy! 7:30pm. $5 to $10, sliding scale. 21+.
