San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for August 18 - August 24, 2011

This week, Burlesque Moulin will be celebrating their first anniversary! The show will be happening on Saturday at the Shattuck Down Low in Berkeley. In addition, it will also be a celebration of show cofounder Isis Starr's birthday and a mini bon voyage party for the other cofounder, Eva Valentina, so there will be lots happening that night that you won't want to miss!

The Femmes of Color will be having their Fox’s Vaudeville & Variety Show as a fundraiser on Friday night at Oakland's House of Music. The show will feature a number of visiting performers, and the Femmes of Color Symposium will be happening this weekend in Oakland. One of our most talented and recognizable burlesque performers, Alotta Boutté, will be modeling at the Dr. Sketchy San Francisco event on Tuesday. If you're looking for a live model to draw, 111 Minna Gallery is where you'll want to be. But get there early, as this event has become very popular!

Plus, there will be shows from Curvicious Cabaret, Red Hots Burlesque, and the Hubba Hubba Revue in Oakland. So enjoy the closing weeks of summer with some smoking hot burlesque!

• Thursday, August 18: Curvicious Cabaret at The Blue Macaw in San Francisco, 2565 Mission Street (map). Starring Coco Lectric (Austin, TX - New Orleans Queen of Burlesque '10!), Wiggy Darlington, Honey Lawless, Casey Castille, Rosalyn LaRoux, Rizzo Rouge, Lady Satan, and Sparkly Devil! With MC Kevin Hancock and stage Kitten Francine Dead! Plus other special guests! Starring Doors at 9pm, show at 10pm. $10. 21+.


• Friday, August 19: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Come with your sense of humor, get ready to enter the pink bubble. Red Hots Burlesque brings you the "city's best" bump and grind at the "happiest hour" in the bay! They're celebrating Ophelia Cour Noir's bachelorette party this night with performances by Flynn Whitmyer, Ariyana La Faye, Mary Van Note, Australia's Georgia Ruby, Ava Lanche, and Delilah! 7:30pm. $5 to $10, sliding scale. 21+.
  


• Also Friday: Femmes of Color Symposium presents Fox’s Vaudeville & Variety Show at House of Music in Oakland, 420 14th Street (map). This event is a fundraiser for the Femmes of Color Symposium open to all Femmes of Color and Allies! A marvel of queer performance featuring wondrous expositions, songs, anomalies and exhibitions hosted by MIZ GINGER SNAPZ (Seattle, WA)! With performances by The Lady Ms. Vagina Jenkins (LA), Miz Ginger Snapz (Seattle), Creatrix Tiara (Brisbane, Australia), Dacia Holliday (Salt Lake City, UT), Jurni Rayne (Dallas, TX), Dorian Faust: Burlesque's Basquiat, Jezebel Delilah X, Heaven Mousalem, Juicy D. Light and Miss Magnoliah Black, Raks Africa, Chan Dynasty, Agent P. Galore, and Ms. Cherry Galette! Doors at 8pm, show at 8:30pm. $10-$20 Sliding Scale (no one turned away for lack of funds).

• Saturday, August 20: Burlesque Moulin's 1 Year Anniversary Extravaganza at the Shattuck Down Low in Berkeley, 2284 Shattuck Avenue (map). Celebrate this milestone with Burlesque Moulin! It's also Co-Founder Isis Starr's birthday... and Eva Valentina's mini bon voyage party (as she's growing some roots over in far off Paris and will be leaving this month to stay for a while)... so come on out and celebrate with them! Featuring Cirque Noir, SF’s Best Aerial Burlesque Dance Troupe! With performances by The Amazing MC Duo: Chachi Harlem & Smooth Rick (from Kalri$$ian), Casey Castille, Nirvannah Bliss, Kitty Von Quimm, Lilly Le Rouge, Cherry Galette, Miss Honey Penny, Alotta Boutte, Sassy Susie Butler and Kitty Lamour, Isis Starr, and Eva Valentina! Keylo Valenzuela will provide the sound, and dining will be served by Simply Biss Catering featuring Chef Yulanda. • Monday, August 22: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue (map). Summer is coming to an end soon, so don't miss one of these shows which feature smoking hot burlesque! With performances by Rizzo Rogue, Bunny Von Tail, Babraham Lincoln, Red Velvet, Jodi Waseca, Lolly Gagger, and special guest, Vesper Synd! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15. $5. 21+.


• Tuesday, August 23: Dr. Sketchy's San Francisco presents Alotta Boutté at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco, 111 Minna Street (map). Alotta Boutté is a high glam burlesque beauty. She is a dream to draw and a Dr Sketchy’s SF favorite! So bring your favorite drawing materials to this very popular drawing event! 7pm to 10pm. $12 general admission. $10 students/teachers. 21+.
  


• Wednesday, August 24: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Join Dottie Lux for Red Hots Burlesque as it expands to its second day of the week! A new and different show twice a week, including bizarre beauties, senseless sideshow, drag, burlesque and comedy! 7:30pm. $5 to $10, sliding scale. 21+.
