San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for May 12 - May 18, 2011

Oh my! I do believe that this is the most shows I've ever posted in a weekly round-up ever! There's a total of 15 events, so I'll just point out a few of the shows that have caught my interest.

Little Minsky's Burlesque is celebrating their sixth year, and have they got a show! They've got some of the best burlesque performers from the Bay Area performing, including former resident Kristina Nekyia who has got to be one of the favorites to be this year's Reigning Queen of Burlesque title at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in June! It's a fantastic and diverse lineup of talent that Douglas Good has arranged for this special show.

On Friday, Baby Blue Bergman is coming all the way from Australia as she starts off what seems to be a World Tour. She'll be performing at Red Hots Burlesque, and will also be performing at the Hubba Hubba Revue show "Wild Animals" next week.

Also happening Friday is the Devil-Ettes' Go Go Mania, which will be the only show they're producing this year. They've got some terrific bands lined up, too, so if you want to see San Francisco's Go Go Sweethearts, this is your chance in 2011!

In Santa Cruz, also on Friday, is the battle between the Santa Cruz Derby Girls and the Sin Sisters Burlesque at the Catalyst. How cool is that? There will be music, dancing, and a lot of scantily clad girls, girls, girls! All in one of Santa Cruz's most famous clubs.

Not in the list below is Tugboat's birthday party! On Saturday, he'll be celebrating from 1pm until late at night at Zeitgeist, most likely in the beer garden. If you have some time, drop by and wish this member of the Hubba Hubba Revue a happy birthday! Zeitgeist is located at 199 Valencia Street in San Francisco (map). You may RSVP if you like at the Facebook Event Page.

Late Saturday night, Cabaret Lunatique presents "Celebrate the Mission" at Teatro ZinZanni's fantastic Spiegeltent on Pier 29. Since the lobby doors open at 11:15 p.m., this is a perfect show to see after the earlier show you attend lets out. Plus it'll feature La Chica Boom!

On Sunday night, Naked Girls Reading SF presents Burlesque Legends. This show will not only feature Living Legends of Burlesque, but it's part of the effort to help local Legends attend the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas in June. It's a worthy cause, and should be lots of fun!

I've skipped over some very worthwhile shows, so you can take a look below to see them all. Since many of them are happening on Friday or Saturday, you've got to make some decisions as to which to attend. Whatever you decide, I hope that you enjoy yourselves! :-)
