San Francisco area burlesque for May 5 to 11, 2010

This SFBR week o'burlesque starts off with a celebration of Cinco de Mayo! Join Bunny Pistol and Barbary Coast Burlesque at their new location, the Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco this Wednesday. Among the revelers will be Mae Western, Josie Starre, Lady Satan, Milkshake, Delilah, Sparkly Devil, sASSy Hotbuns, Kiss Me Kate, and the host, Bunny Pistol herself!

On Friday, there will be four shows to choose from! One in the North Bay (Risk-A Cabaret presents Happy Party, SPOOKY Party!), two in San Francisco (Red Hots Burlesque and Devil-Ettes A Go Go!), and one in the East Bay (First Friday Follies).

On Monday, there will be a very special Hubba Hubba Revue show at the Uptown in Oakland. It will be a fundraiser for Living Legend of Burlesque Toni Elling and the Burlesque Hall of Fame. The show will feature many of the Bay Area's most talented performers! And if you can't make the show, you can still donate. The details are in the show listing below.

  • Wednesday, May 5: Barbary Coast Burlesque at the Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco, 1131 Polk Street. Celebate Cinco de Mayo with host Bunny Pistol and her guests Mae Western, Josie Starre, Lady Satan, Milkshake, Delilah, Sparkly Devil, sASSy Hotbuns, and Kiss Me Kate. 9 to 11pm. $6, 21+ w/ID.

  • Friday, May 7: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street. It'll be a Kentucky Fried Evening with host Kentucky Fried Woman! Joining in the Fried fun will be Alotta Boutté, sASSy Hotbuns, Honey Lawless and Bunny Pistol. Show at 7:30pm. $5-10, sliding scale. 21+ w/ID.

  • Also Friday: Risk-A Cabaret presents Happy Party, SPOOKY Party! at Aubergine After Dark Cafe in Sebastopol, 755 Petaluma Avenue. It'll be Halloween in May at Risk-A Cabaret's Happy Party, SPOOKY Party! Featuring live music from Brothers Horse and Layla Musselwhite. Bellydancing from Marjhani and Megz of Karmaja, T'Aja, Top Heavy, and Troupe Joweh! Burlesque from Josie Starre! Twisted fabulousness from the Reverend Mother! And juggling from possibly the best juggler ever, Johnny Kearns! 9:30pm. $5-10 sliding scale.

  • Also, also Friday: Devil-Ettes A Go Go! at The Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco, 155 Fell Street. The Devil-Ettes are hosting their last bash of 2010, so don't miss it! Travel through time as they go-go through the ages, from the rockabilly jive era of the 50’s, into the swinging go-go 60's, and straight through to the bubblegum funky 70’s! Vinyl platters spun by DJ Dimestore Dandy, DJ Okie Oran and DJ Rockin' Raul, dance contests, cheap cheap merchandise deals and prizes! With live music from The Royal Deuces (rockabilly and old-time rock-and-roll), Ron Silva and the Monarchs (R&B and early soul of the '50s to mid-'60s), and Roger That (mashup of '70s tunes)! 8:30pm. $10, 21+.

  • Also, also, and also Friday: First Friday Follies at The Stork Club in Oakland, 1621 Telegraph Avenue. There's a no-cover show after the Oakland Art Murmur, and its name is First Friday Follies! Join Miss Balla Fire, Kiss Me Kate, Twilight Vixen Revue, Ophelia Coeur de Noir, Cupcake & Little Eyeful, Rachel McDowell, Emcee Babe Margaret France, and the hottest Pick Up Artist ever- BB Dahl! Music by Matt Holdaway's Army! 9pm. No cover, but donations welcome, 21+ w/ID.

  • Monday, May 10: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. Join MCs Kingfish and Eddie for an all-star benefit for Living Legend of Burlesque Toni Elling and the Burlesque Hall of Fame! The lineup will include Kellita (of Hot Pink Feathers), Alotta Boutté, Lady Satan, Madame Chartreuse, Honey Lawless, Kiss Me Kate, Ruby White, Sparkly Devil, Lola Vauntz, Bunny Pistol, and Pickup Artist Ophelia Coeur de Noir! Plus special appearances by Living Legends of Burlesque, Viva La Fever and Ellion Ness! And don't miss the big-ticket raffle featuring *exclusive* items from San Francisco and beyond! Buy your raffle tickets at the event, or if you're not local, you can participate in our e-raffle! You can purchase raffle tickets via PayPal for $1 each. Minimum $3 raffle ticket purchase, please.   • Tuesday, May 11: Dr. Sketchy's SF presents the Second Annual Cute Girls on Bicycles at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco, 111 Minna Street. Three cute models, four cute bikes for you to draw...including a beautiful orange mixte from PUBLIC bikes! The models include Meli Burgueño, lovely blogger of Bikes and the City, Constance Cavallas, awesome builder of Pelicans and wheel lacer, and Amanda Lanker, fearless leader of the Pushbike Ladies Ride. 7 to 10pm. $10 general admission. $7 students/teachers, 21+ w/ID.
