San Francisco area burlesque for May 26 to June 1, 2010

Thanks to some late additions to the calendar this week, it looks like there will be a variety of shows to choose from after all. Though it looks like a week to enjoy your Dottie Lux, as she'll be in three of the shows!

This Wednesday, there will be some burlesque mixed in with some rock and roll at the Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco. So if you love your burlesque mixed with some rock bands, that show is a good bet!

Friday brings Dottie Lux at her own show, Red Hots Burlesque. This week, the RHB School of Shimmy graduates take the stage for the very first time at El Rio! Then Dottie hotfoots it down the street to Amnesia, where she'll host the monthly Baxtalo Drom gypsy punk event.

Across the Bay in Oakland, Randy Johnson and Fromagique will join with the East Bay's Original Sin Burlesque to help Eve Devlin celebrate her birthday at the Uptown Nightclub.

On Sunday, the Hot Pink Feathers will be participating in the annual SF Carnaval Grand Parade. If you've never been, watching the parade is a great way to spend a Sunday morning. Grab something to eat and drink, find a spot to sit or stand along Mission or 24th Streets, and wave at the Hot Pink Feathers and take their pictures. There are lots of other colorful and talented participants, too!

Then finally on Monday, there's the weekly Hubba Hubba Revue show at the Uptown in Oakland. Can't miss that one! Kiss Me Kate may be tuning up the act she'll perform at this year's Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend! That would be such a treat! :-)

• Wednesday, May 26: White Barons with Space Vacation plus Rock Burlesque at the Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco, 1131 Polk Street. Music from SF Coke n' Rollers The White Barons, party metal with Space Vacation, and rock 'n roll burlesque with Dottie Lux, Bunny Pistol, and Honey Penny, with sexy stage kitten sASSy Hotbuns! 9pm. $6, 21+ w/ID.
  


• Friday, May 28: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street. Red Hots Burlesque School of Shimmy Showcase! See beautiful first time performers bump and grind their way to graduation. Please welcome for the very first time anywhere Cheeky La La, A.J. Molecular, and Cherry Bottom! They'll be joined by Choreography Professor Alotta Boutte & S.O.S. Founder Dottie Lux! Show at 7:30pm. $5-10, sliding scale. 21+ w/ID.


• Also, Friday: Baxtalo Drom - The Lucky Road at Amnesia in San Francisco, 853 Valencia Street. Join MC Dottie Lux for a trip to a gypsy camp! Live music from Hobo Jazz and The Gomorran Social Aid and Pleasure Club. Lisa Fiera and Susan Frankovich will perform. DJ Chango B will get you dancing. 9pm. $5 before 10, $10 after. 21+ w/ID.
  


• Also, also Friday: Original Sin Burlesque w/Fromagique at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. A classic burlesque and bellydance troupe based in the East Bay, Original Sin Burlesque, joins with San Francisco's cheesiest band, Fromagique! Celebrate Eve Devlin's birthday with OSB and special guest MC Randy Johnson! They will be bringing you all the burlesque and bellydancing you can handle...as well as an amazing opening set by the incomparable Fromagique! Plus: Courtney Crimson of The Displayed Labors Sideshow. Doors at 9pm, show at 10. $10, 21+ w/ID.


• Sunday, May 30: SF Grand Carnaval Parade w/Hot Pink Feathers on 24th and Mission Streets in San Francisco. Join the Hot Pink Feathers Parading Corps and the Hot
  Pink Feathers All-Star Marching Band for San Francisco’s Annual Grand Carnaval Parade 2010! This year, Hot Pink Feather’s "TUDO JOIA" ("Everything's Beautiful"), Carnaval tribute to Carmen Miranda and Josephine Baker is simply delightful, colorful, sensuous and
  gorgeous! Parade starts at 10 am. This year there are more than 60 dancers, musicians
  and revelers, and they are # 47 in the parade! Photos with the HPF near 2268

• Monday, May 31: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. Celebrate Memorial Day with your old pals from the Hubba Hubba Revue! Starring Kiss Me Kate, The Twilight Vixen Revue, Miss Mae Western, The New Eccentrics, Kitty von Quimm, The Empress, Ophelia Love, and special guests, Displayed Labors Sideshow!
