San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for the week of December 7 to December 13, 2011

The holidays are upon us, and the new year is just around the corner. So there's lots of shows with lots of holiday spirit to experience!

The Center for Sex and Culture will be having their season kick-off at El Rio on Thursday evening. There will be a number of burlesque performers among the entertainers including The Stripping Granny, Red Velvet, and Lady Monster. This will be one of the final performances by Lady Monster in San Francisco before she moves out of state!

Original Sin Burlesque will also be having a holiday-themed show, with the addition of a tropical theme! Their Spectacular Holiday Revue will be happening also on Thursday evening at the Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge in Alameda.

On Saturday, the Hot Pink Feathers and Blue Bone Express will be involved in the holiday edition of their show, Burlesque n' Brass at Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland.

Bombshell Betty and her Burlesqueteers will be celebrating the holidays with their All Kinds of Sexy Burlesque Benefit Show on Tuesday at the Elbo Room in San Francisco.

And of course, there are the other regularly scheduled shows, which are outlined below.

• Wednesday, December 7: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Come with your sense of humor, get ready to enter the pink bubble. Red Hots Burlesque brings you the "city's best" bump and grind at the "happiest hour" in the bay and newly noted "#3 burlesque show in the country to take your girl to"! This Wednesday night, see performances by Noxious Nixie, Lynn Ruth Miller, Dorian Faust, Marla Spanks, and Moxxxie Heart! With your host, Dottie Lux! 7:30pm. $5 to $10, sliding scale. 21+.


• Thursday, December 8: CSC Holiday Sexy Shindig at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Burlesque, performance, and crazy sexy shenanigans at our favorite bar! Please join us and spread the word widely – this is CSC’s season kick-off, and we’re so grateful to El Rio for making some space on their calendar for us! Our fabulous featured performers (we are still adding people to the bill, we may have even more action than this!): The Stripping Granny, Lady Monster, Red Velvet, Alexa Von Kickinface, Cosette L'Amour, Mint Julep w/ Summer Fling, and DJ Pusspuss spins til midnight! 8pm. $8 to $20, sliding scale. 21+.

Don't miss the annual holiday pinup parade of pretty presents, unwrapped before your very eyes, beneath a Christmas palm tree, featuring the darlings of Danville, Original Sin Burlesque! 8pm. • Also Thursday: Little Minsky's Burlesque & Variety Show at Club Deluxe in San Francisco, 1511 Haight Street (map). Ladies and gents, 'tis the season for teasin' at Little Minsky's, so fend off the impending winter chill with some smoldering showgirls, festive tomfoolery and melodious merriment hosted by the exuberant and irrepressible drag vocal diva Ethel Merman. Raise your glasses to the luscious likes of the sarcastically sinister Lady Satan, the scandalously enchanting La Chica Boom, the sensuous temptress Miss Balla Fire, the ever-elegant Vienna La Rouge, the shimmering Josie Starre and spectacular Sid Scenic. Revel in the lush harmonies and soothing sounds of that wondrous chanteuse duo The Bluebelles and smoky cabaret confections from stellar songstress Sheelagh Murphy. Musical accompaniment provided by the astounding Alan Choy on piano, the delightful Daniel Fabricant on upright bass and the magnificent Tom Griesser on clarinet/sax. • Friday, December 9: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). The second show of the week! Featuring Kitty Von Quim, Professor Shimmy, and Nicki Sparxx! With your hosts, Dottie Lux and Honey Lawless! 7:30pm. $5 to $10, sliding scale. 21+.


• Also Friday: The Mischievous Maidens Show at the Skylark Bar in San Francisco, 3089 16th Street (map). Join The Mischievous Maidens burlesque troupe for a fun start to your weekend at the Skylark Bar with live burlesque and stand-up comedy! 8pm. Free show. 21+.


• Saturday, December 10: Burlesque n' Brass : Holiday Edition at Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland, 1621 Telegraph Avenue (map). Come join the Hot Pink Feathers with their musical cohorts Blue Bone Express at Cafe Van Kleef for sets and sets of not only live, but exceedingly lively music and dance! This show will feature Dusty Jewel, Ada Lavender, Minnie Cupcakes, and Lily Diamond! Doors 8:30pm, show at 9:30pm. $10. 21+.
  
  
• Monday, December 12: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue (map). It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Say, maybe that's why the beauties at Hubba Hubba Revue keep tearing off their wrappings! Start off your week with hosts Kingfish and Kevin Hancock and an entertaining burlesque and variety show in Oakland. This week's show features Portland's infamous Nina Nightshade, Anni Boelyn, Mz. K, Trixie Fou Laurant, Miss Lida Fire, Dare-Devil Molotov, The Stripping Granny, and introducing hoop-artists, NERDGASM!! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15pm. $5. 21+.


• Tuesday, December 13: Séduction Féroce at Era Art Bar and Lounge in Oakland, (map). Séduction Féroce is a burlesque cabaret variety show that happens every second Tuesday of the month! This month there's an amazing line-up of performers to tantalize your taste buds. A stage kitten that will make you lick your bowl of milk clean, Simone Clamorous and the dj who keeps the show on the flow DJ gravedigger! The evening will be hosted by the producer of Oakland's finest 'Tourettes Without Regrets', Jamie DeWolf! Performances by Joie de Vivre, Mz. K, Paige Lawrence, Bunny Von Tail, Ophelia Coeur de Noir, Mama's Boyz, Dakota Belle Witte, Patricia Misery, Prometheus, Sheba, Francine Dead, Riley le Riotte, and special guest performance by The Conspiracy of Beards! Doors open at 8pm and show starts at 9pm. $5. 21+.


• Also Tuesday: All Kinds of Sexy Burlesque Benefit Show at the Elbo Room in San Francisco, 647 Valencia Street (map). Grab some eggnog and throw on your ugly Christmas sweater, because the Burlesqueteers are getting into the holiday spirit! They have a reindeer can-can, sexy Hannukah dreidel fun, Heat Miser and Snow Miser, naughty fun with snowmen, the Grinch gets taught a lesson, the 12 (Drunken) Days of Christmas, and a Nativity scene like you've never seen! Plus so much more holiday fun! Featuring burlesque by Bombshell Betty, Belle Phenomene, Bo Peek, Candy Pie, Charlie Luxe, Cleo Torres, Cooki Crumbles, Cosette L'Amour, Dangerous Delilah, Ginger Snapped, Hazel DeVille, Ivana Cupcake, Kinkie D'Orleans, Lacivious Carriage, Mistress Arachnia, Red Delicious, Red Velvet, Scarlet Leather, Tanqueray Von Graffenberg, Tipsy Daisy, Trixie Fou Laurent, and Yve Jobs!
