San Francisco area burlesque for October 14 to October 20, 2010

Dr. Lucky (aka Lukki) from New York City is visiting the Bay Area, and she will be performing at several shows while she is here! She'll be performing at Little Minsky's on Thursday at Club Deluxe and at Red Hots Burlesque on Friday at El Rio. And she actually is a doctor, for she has a PhD and teaches the history of American burlesque in the NYU drama department!

Cirque Noir is staging their last shows at supperclub in San Francisco this Thursday and Friday under creative directors Alayna Stroud and Kate Law, as they both will be moving out of town to pursue other projects for at least a few years. Cirque Noir, however, will continue under the collective direction of Amanda Bassolino, Ana Hyatt, and Debra Arana. They're planning to start a burlesque bootcamp sometime early next year. Details to be announced.

Hubba Hubba Revue will be staging three shows: Friday's big Mad Science show at the DNA Lounge, Saturday's Pirate Burlesque Show with Bootie SF at the DNA Lounge again, then Monday's show at the Uptown Club in Oakland with Bombshell Betty and Fromagique.

You can tell that it's October, as shows with a Halloween theme are starting to appear. Besides the Hubba Hubba Revue show on Friday, Naked Girls Reading SF will be reading ghost stories at the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco on Saturday night! Also on Saturday night, Original Sin Burlesque at Sanctuary Ultra Lounge in Livermore will be having their Halloween show, as will Debauchery on Sunday evening at the White Horse Bar in Oakland.

Lastly, La Chica Boom will be performing at Red Hots Burlesque and Dr. Sketchy's SF at 111 Minna Gallery on Tuesday evening. She's the founder of Kaleidoscope, An Annual National People of Color Cabaret, which will be happening this year on October 28-30. In addition to the show, there will be an educational symposium and a pre-party and social event. For more information, and to purchase advance tickets, please visit www.kaleidoscopecabaret.com.

Have a good week, everyone! :-)
