San Francisco area burlesque for January 19 to 25, 2010

For the second consecutive week, there's a plethora of burlesque shows from which to choose.

You'll be able to see a Barbary Coast Burlesque show in a new venue, The Hotel Utah, on Wednesday.

Thrillville teams up with Hubba Hubba Revue and the Vicar of Liquor on Thursday for a screening of Shanty Tramp (1967, 35mm) and live burlesque at the 4 Star Theater.

The Flying Fox, and her alter ego Miz Margo, returns from New York to appear in Friday's Red Hots Burlesque and Saturday's Edwardian Ball. The Edwardian World's Faire will also be on Friday at The Regency Ballroom.

The Hot Pink Feathers will be appearing in the Voices of Latin Rock Autism Benefit show on Friday at Bimbo's 365 Club.

On Monday, the Hubba Hubba Revue will return for their weekly Monday night show at the Uptown in Oakland.

So this week is a chance to see burlesque performed in different venues. A great opportunity to check out some familiar faces in new spaces!

• Tuesday, January 19: Dr. Sketchy's SF presents Roller Derby at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco, It's on! Here's your chance to draw short skirts, crash helmets, and the Bay.Area.Derby GIRLS. Featuring Jane Hammer, Windigo Jones, and Rough House Rhonda. 7-10pm. $10 general admission, $7 students/teachers with ID. 21+ w/ID.


• Wednesday, January 20: Barbary Coast Burlesque presents Intoxicating Beauties of the Bay at Hotel Utah in SF, 500 4th Street. Barbary Coast Burlesque presents a showcase inspired by Classic Burlesque. Hosted by Virginia Suicide. Stage performance includes Bunny Pistol, Peaches Velour, Honey Lawless, Kiss Me Kate, Bunny Pistol, Mynx D'Meanor, Josie Starre, sASSy Hotbuns. Doors at 8pm, show at 9. $6, 21+ w/ID.


• Thursday, January 21: Thrillville Featuring Hubba Hubba Revue and the Vicar of Liquor at the 4 Star Theater in San Francisco, 2200 Clement Street. Join hosts Will the Thrill and Monica Tiki Goddess as they screen "Shanty Tramp" (1967, 35mm). Then see live burlesque with Hubba Hubba Revue and the Vicar of Liquor! 8pm. $10. "Adults only."
  


• Friday, January 22: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street. Join your host Dottie Lux as she presents Virginia Suicide, Honey Penny, The Flying Fox, Lance Armstar, Honey Lawless, Kiss Me Kate and MORE! Show at 7:30pm. $5-10, sliding scale. 21+ w/ID.
  


• Also Friday: Voices of Latin Rock Autism Benefit at Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco, 1025 Columbus Avenue. The Hot Pink Feathers will play one of their favorite local venues, Bimbo's 365 Club, this Friday, January 22, to benefit autism research! They're at the top of the show, so don't be late! The show also features Richard Bean and Sapo, Michael Shrieve's Spellbinder, the Latin Jazz Revue, and the Latin Rock Experience. 7:30pm. Tickets are $100 VIP, $75 general admission. 21+ w/ID.


• Also Friday: The Edwardian World's Faire 2010 at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, 1300 Van Ness Avenue. Features performances and shopping and other entertainments. Featuring Vagabond Opera, Agent Ribbons, Kinetic Steam Works, Dark Garden Corsetry, Fou Fou HA!, City Circus, Vima Dance Expo, Shovelman, Delachaux, Smoove, Rachel Brice of The Indigo, and Emcee Kingfish of the Hubba Hubba Revue. 8pm to 2am. General Admission (GA) Floor - $26, General Admission (GA) Balcony, also includes Floor - $36. All ages.


• Saturday, January 23: The Edwardian Ball 2010 at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, 1300 Van Ness Avenue. Saturday features Edward Gorey tales brought to life on stage by co-hosts and creators Rosin Coven and Vau de Vire Society, plus “Belle of the Ball” Jill Tracy, Miz Margo, Vima Vice Squad, Fou Fou HA!, Delachaux, Kitten On The Keys, ballroom dancing, Edwardian portrait studio and surprise guests. 8pm to 2am. General Admission (GA) Floor - $36. All ages.
  


• Monday, January 25: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. Warm up your winter with Kingfish and Eddie at the Uptown! Featuring Blackhoodygrrl, Red Velvet, Miss Honey Penny, Twinkletoes McGee, Kitty von Quimm, Zip the What-Is-It?! With Jellyfish Kiss Burlesque! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15ish. $5, 21+ w/ID.
