Looks like we got a week for Fromagique! With music and dancers so hot they could make a pizza. If only they had some dough. Ha ha. Yes, there are two opportunities to see them this week. At the Uptown in Oakland on Monday, and Wednesday as they perform at the Varona CD release party at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco.
On Friday, Red Hots Burlesque is free!. And they've got a live band to back up the dancers. Woo hoo!
And this weekend is the big Carnaval SF event with the Hot Pink Feathers parading on Sunday. Here are the vital deets for the week:
- Monday, May 18, 2009: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. Catch the return of Mynx D'Meanor to the Bay Area. And visiting from San Diego, starlet Lady Borgia! Plus it's Burlesqueteer Night, with Bombshell Betty, her Burlesqueteers, Fromagique, and the Fromagettes, including Tiger Von Claus, Tinky Sparkle, Penny Paperback, If-N-Whendy, Bourbon Lee, Foxy Chartreuse, and Flaming June! Wow, that's a lotta show! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15ish. $5 (not much dough!), 21+ w/ID.
- Wednesday, May 20: Varona CD Release Party with Fromagique at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco, 155 Fell Street. Join Fromagique and Go Van Gough as they celebrate Varona's new CD, "Egoist." With burlesque! $10, 21+ w/ID.
- Friday, May 22: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street. Join host Lady Monster for a free show! See burlesque performed with live music from Lucifer's Strip Club Band! Starring Dottie Lux, Lily Le Rouge, Isis Starr, Kellita & pick up artist Kiss Me Kate! Show at 7:30pm. Free!!! 21+ w/ID.
- Saturday May 23 and Sunday, May 24: Carnaval SF 2009. Festival at Harrison Street between 16th and 22nd Streets in San Francisco. On Saturday, enjoy seeing the many arts, crafts, entertainers, and taste foods that celebrate Latin American and Caribbean cultures at the festival. Festival hours are 10:00am – 6:00pm. On Sunday, see the Hot Pink Feathers (contingent #17) and many other dancers, performers, and floats in the Grand Parade, which starts at 9:30am at the corner of 24th and Bryant streets where it will proceed west to Mission Street. From there, the parade heads north on Mission down to 17th Street, where it will turn east and flow into the festival area and end about 1:30pm.
