SF Bay Area burlesque for the week of December 29, 2008

Well, looks like the end of 2008 is approaching. And the end of the holiday season is fast approaching, too. But before they leave, the burlesquers are bringing us a few last shows to celebrate. We've got Uptown Hubba Hubba, Red Hots Burlesque (back after the El Rio closed for the some kind of holiday (Boxing Day?) last Friday), First Friday Follies, and the Hot Pink Feathers with Blue Bone Express, and even Hubba Hubba Revue with Baxtalo Drom!

• Monday, December 29: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. Put the final nail in ole '08 *rimshot* with Room for Cream *second rimshot*, Jerkfreid & Ulf, Sparkly Devil, Chi Chis del Fuego, Josie Starre, Francine Dead, sASSy Hotbuns, Miss Johnny Friday, and your fabulous drunken hosts, Kingfish and Eddie. Doors 9pm, show 10ish. $5, 21+ w/ID.
• Friday, January 2, 2009: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street. Join Lady Satan, Miss Honey Penny, Uni and her Ukelele, Mable Sugar, and your host, Dottie Lux for the first burlesque show of 2009!!! Before the show enjoy some BBQ at SF's best happy hour! Woo hoo! Show at 7:30pm. $5-10 sliding scale, 21+ w/ID.
• Also Friday: Hubba Hubba Revue welcomes The Lucky Road -- Baxtalo Drom! at DNA Lounge, 375 11th Street. The guys and girls from Hubba Hubba Revue and Baxtalo Drom bring you burlesque, bellydance, fortune telling. Featuring live performances by Room for Cream, Fuchsia Fox and Sassy DeLure, Rose Harden, and Sister Kate. Gypsy Punk Dance Party with DJ Zeljko! 9pm. $10, 21+ w/ID.
• Also Friday: First Friday Follies at the Stork Club in Oakland, 2330 Telegraph Avenue. Celebrate the new year with Emcee Margaret France! Performances by The Twilight Vixen Revue, Kellita, Cupcake & Little Eyeful, Ruby White, Lady Satan, French Maid B.B. Dahl, spoken word by Matt Holdaway, and music from the Final Frontiersmen! Show at 9:30pm. Free, but donations encouraged, 21+ w/ID.
• Saturday, January 3: Burlesque n' Brass at Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland, 1621 Telegraph Avenue. Join the Hot Pink Feathers and Blue Bone Express for their first show of 2009! I'm thinking three sets from HPF and three sets from BBE sounds like what the doctor ordered for the New Year's! Doors at 8:30pm, show at 9:30 sharp. $10, 21+ w/ID.
• Sunday, January 4 (Added): Cabaret de Nude at The Stud in San Francisco, 399 9th Street. Join Vixen Noir and Chica Boom for a lezzi, queer girl and tranny Strip Joint featuring Burlesque, Striptease and Erotic Performance Art, with a dash of comedy, spoken word, poetry, song and more…This month featuring Honey Lawless, Ms. Cherry Galette, The Inimitable Isis Starr, Hoku Mama, Kellita, and introducing all the way from Seattle, Ginger Snapz, along with performances from your hostesses, Vixen and Chica! Go-Go Dancers Lady Shadow & Ms. Vera Deville! Resident DJs Pam Hubbuck and Ms. Jackson! Doors at 6, show at 7:30. $8 before 7pm, $10 after, 21+ w/ID.
