San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for June 16 - June 22, 2011

Here is this week's schedule of burlesque around the Bay. If you know of some shows that aren't on here, please let me know! Facebook recently remodeled their events listings, and some show invites weren't returned to my list, so I may be missing a show or two. But of the shows that are still on my calendar, there looks to be some "can't miss" events coming up.

This is the weekend that World Famous *BOB* visits the Bay Area once again. Although she lived here for a while, she's visiting from New York City, so catch her while you can! She'll be performing at Red Hots Burlesque on Friday, RHB and Burlesque Moulin's Dog and Pony Show on Saturday, and she'll be conducting workshops on Sunday. Please see previous post for details.

Another unusual event will be the Hubba Hubba Revue's Flying Saucer Beach Party on Father's Day at the DNA Lounge. What makes it unique is that it's a daytime show! Doors open at 2:00 p.m., and the show goes on until 8:00 p.m. There will be burlesque, some kind of swimsuit contest, dancing, music, special guests, and more! Bring your father to the show!

Another unique happening on Saturday will be the 1st Annual Pirate Ball at the Benicia Arsenal Clocktower. If you'll be in the East Bay this Saturday night, this will be the place to be... to see pirate burlesque! Arrrr, mateys! Among the performers will be some members of Bombshell Betty's Burlesqueteers.

For all of you folks in the Santa Cruz area, the Sin Sisters Burlesque will be once again performing at the Catalyst Club on Saturday. This time, they'll be performing in the Atrium with band Beso Negro!

Curviscious Cabaret, Debauchery, Original Sin Burlesque, and Bombshell Betty and Fromagique will be having their monthly shows, so please feel free to check out all of the information below and see what interests you. Enjoy! :-)

• Thursday, June 16: Curvicious Cabaret at the Blue Macaw in San Francisco, 2565 Mission Street (map). Curvicious Cabaret brings the funk this month! Don't miss this funkadelic burlesque love letter to the founders fathers, from James Brown to George Clinton to Sly & The Family Stone! Starring Twinkletoes McGee (Detroit), Roxie 151 (NYC), Mz K of Frisque, Wiggy Darlington & Sid Scenic, bellydance superstar Rasa Vitalia, Lady Satan, Grace Bones, Bitter Waitress, sASSy Hotbuns, Sparkly Devil, stage kitten Bootsy LaRue, and your emcee, Ms. Juicy D. • Friday, June 17: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). It's the beginning of World Famous Weekend with the arrival of World Famous *BOB*! With your host Scotty the Blue Bunny, and performances from Dave End, Rosie 151 (NYC), Lady Satan, and Dottie Lux. 7:30pm. $5-$10. 21+.
  


• Saturday, June 18: 1st Annual Pirates' Ball at Benicia Arsenal Clocktower in Benicia, 1250 Washington Street (map). Join MC Shay Black for some pirate burlesque with Haus Serpens and Laika Fox & Friends: Pickles Kintaro, Mistress Marla Spanxx, Dangerous Delilah, Cinnamon Stick & Red Delicious! Plus light shows, live music, dancing. vendors, and more! 8pm to midnight. General $20 in advance, $25 at the door. VIP tickets $55. Tickets available online at pirateball.eventbrite.com.
  


• Also Saturday: Burlesque Moulin & Red Hots Burlesque present the Dog and Pony Show at the Shattuck Down Low in Berkeley, 6551 Telegraph Avenue (map). Featuring performances by World Famous *BOB* as Mistress of Ceremonies, Isis Starr, Dottie Lux, Tapping All Stars (Including Alotta Boutte, Cupcake, Kentucky Fried Woman, Lance Armstar and Ruby White), The Scarlet Ladders, sASSy Hotbuns, La Chica Boom, Charleston Chu, and Tyrone Peaches! With special musical guest Kitten on the Keys. Doors at 7:30pm, show at 8:30pm. $12 general admission to $160 for a table seating six with two bottles of champagne. • Also Saturday: An evening with Sin Sisters Burlesque at the Catalyst Club - Atrium in Santa Cruz, 1011 Pacific Avenue (map). Join the Sin Sisters for an evening of visual debauchery as they bring yet another unforgettable show to Santa Cruz. With performances by Madam Chartreuse. Balla Fire, Babraham Lincoln, Cyanide Cyn, Dorian Faust, Patty Cakes Delicious, and Rizzo Rogue! With special appearances by Sparkly Devil, Vera De Ville, and Gorilla X- Gorilla To The Stars! • Also Saturday: Original Sin Burlesque at Sanctuary Ultra Lounge in Livermore, 2369 First Street (map). Join OSB at Sanctuary Ultra Lounge for one of many third-Saturday burlesque shows! Enjoy great drinks and tapas...and of course, the gals of Original Sin Burlesque! 10pm. $5. 21+.
  


• Sunday, June 19: Hubba Hubba Revue's Flying Saucer Beach Party at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco, 375 Eleventh Street (map). It's a special daytime show! San Francisco's biggest, wildest burlesque show cowers in fear as alien saucer-men enact Plan 9! --their insidious scheme to conquer earth's beaches with an army of the undead! With performances by Rosie 151 (New York), Lola Martinet (Chicago), Twinkletoes McGee (Detroit), Lulu Bell (Seattle), Jenny Atomik, Vaudie Va-Boom, Ariyana La Fey, The Mischievous Maidens, Rosalyn LaRoux, Ophelia Coeur de Noir, Kitty Von Quimm, and Gorilla X! This month you'll be there to help keep our stage full of beautiful and glittery queers because this month's beneficiary is us, Debauchery! Hosted by Vegas Jake, and featuring performances by The Stripping Granny, Ella a la Mode, Damien, Kitty Von Quimm, Saranaqued, King McQueen, Sheba Queen of the Night, Patrica Misery, and more! • Monday, June 20: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue (map). Bombshell Betty and Fromagique bring What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas! (2.0) to the East Bay! If you missed this show at the Elbo Room, don't miss it this Monday at the Uptown! Burlesque performances by many of your favorite Burlesqueteers, includiing Bombshell Betty, Candy Pie, Cosette L'Amour, Eve VonGelica, Kinkie d'Orleans, Laura Borealis, Luci Fur, Mistress Marla Spanks, Pearl E. Gates, Red Velvet, Summer Fling, and Violet Streak! With debuts by Ms. Bobby Pin, Demi Moiselle, Reno May, and Scarlet Leather! • Wednesday, June 22: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Join Dottie Lux for Red Hots Burlesque as it expands to its second day of the week! A new and different show twice a week, including bizarre beauties, senseless sideshow, drag, burlesque and comedy! 7:30pm. $5 to $10, sliding scale. 21+.
