San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for April 28 - May 4, 2011

There's some exciting things happening in the local burlesque this week. Red Hots Burlesque expands to Wednesdays, Ruby Champagne, Miss Viva Las Vegas 2010, will perform in the Bay Area on Saturday, Curvicious Cabaret will have a benefit show for Living Legends of Burlesque and the Burlesque Hall of Fame, and there will be a memorial show for the late Eddie Dane.

  • Friday, April 29: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Join Dottie Lux for Red Hots Burlesque, San Francisco's only weekly burlesque show. This week, the performers will include Simone Campbell, the Honeybirds, AJ Molecular, Bitter Waitress, Rizzo Rouge, Sailor St. Claire (Seattle), and Dottie Lux. 7:30pm. $5-$10 sliding scale. 21+.

  • Also Friday: Give 'em the Finger for Me! A Memorial Benefit for Mr. Eddie Dane at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue (map). Join Mistress of Ceremonies Sparkly Devil for a fun and memory-filled evening in celebration of the life of Eddie Dane. With performances by Cupcake & Lil Eyeful, Juicey Delight, Honey Lawless, Balla Fire, Alotta Boutte, Rizzo Rogue, Dorian Faust, and Madam Chartreuse! With a live musical performance by Scisson! Doors at 9pm, show at 10. $10. 21+.

  • Saturday, April 30: The Bombshells 13th Annual Booze, Broads & Hotrods at the 23 Club in Brisbane, 23 Visitacion Avenue (map). Join the Bombshells for the 13th edition of their rockabilly festival and car show! Featuring a performance by Miss Viva Las Vegas 2010, Ruby Champagne! Music from Luis and the Wildfires, Omar and the Stringpoppers, and Jenny Lynn and her Real Gone Daddies! With pre-1965 autos and vendor area. Doors and car show open at 7:30 p.m., DJ and bands start at 8:00. $15 or $10 with traditional rod or custom car club jacket. $21+ for indoor club areas.

  • Sunday, May 1: Kentucky Fried Woman's Guilty Pleasures at the Bench and Bar in Oakland, 510 17th Street (map). What is your guilty pleasure? Join Kentucky Fried Woman and her performers as they celebrate all things they might be a wee bit embarrassed to admit they love! Your hosts will be Alotta Boutté and Scotty the Blue Bunny. Featuring Starr69, Dottie Lux, Saranaqued, Kitty von Quim, Bitter Waitress, Miss Amazing Grace, Sugarbush Lane, Cherry Poppins, Lance Armstar, Ricky T. Smiles & Clitorah Jones. With the tunes of VJ Dandy Dixon and special musical guest Storm Miguel Flores! And Billy "the Poof" Elliot as Stage Daddy & DJ dandy g as Sound Daddy. Doors at 7pm, show at 7:30. $10. 21+.

  • Monday, May 2: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue (map). Join Kingfish and Lee Presson as they celebrate spring with some acts that are blossoming like beautiful flowers! Featuring performances by Mz. K, Blackhoodygrrl, Hoopstress Revolva, Ava Lanche, Chi Chis del Fuego, sASSy Hotbuns, Red Velvet, and Dusty Paik! Doors 9:00pm, show 10:15. $5. 21+.

  • Wednesday, May 4: Premiere of Red Hots Burlesque on Wednesdays at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Join Dottie Lux for Red Hots Burlesque as it expands to its second day of the week! A new and different show twice a week, including bizarre beauties,senseless sideshow, drag, burlesque and comedy! 7:30pm. $5 to $10, sliding scale. 21+.

  • Also Wednesday: Curvicious Cabaret Benefit for Burlesque Hall of Fame & SF Legends at the Blue Macaw in San Francisco, 2565 Mission Street (map). Curvicious Cabaret presents a very special evening of burlesque, past and present, to raise funds for the Burlesque Hall of Fame and SF Legends Ellion Ness, Viva La Fever and Madame E. Join them for a star-studding evening of glamour, as the brightest stars of SF burlesque performing unique tribute numbers to icons of burlesque, and legends of film and stage who have inspired them. Starring Kitten on the Keys (Holiday O'Hara), Vera Deville (Bettie Page), Lola Martinet (burlesque acrobats), Bunny Pistol (Tura Satana), Honey Lawless (Dixie Evans), Balla Fire (Sally Rand), Mynx D'Meanor (Audrey Hepburn), Kellita (Ninon Sevilla & the Rumberas), Lady Monster (Satans Angel), and Grace Bones (Josephine Baker). Special performance by Living Legend Madame E! With your emcees Sparkly Devil and Kingfish. 100% of proceeds go towards Burlesque Hall of Fame & the travel expenses for SF Legends. Doors open at 8pm, show begins at 9pm. $10. 21+.
