San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for January 5 to 11, 2011

It's a new year, with new opportunities to see some awesome burlesque shows in the San Francisco Bay Area!

Some regularly-scheduled weekly and monthly shows will be happening this coming week. Red Hots Burlesque will return after a two-week hiatus, First Friday Follies will rock out, Le Boy goes into outer space, the Sin Sisters take over the Uptown Hubba Hubba show for one night, Midnight Magenta Muse will go from picking up clothes to doffing them at Séduction Féroce, and Bombshell Betty and Fromagique will go country for some rural fun!

Be adventurous! Check out some new shows this year, and see what happens. You might be surprised!

  • Friday, January 7: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Red Hots returns hotter than ever after a two-week winter hiatus! Featuring performances by AJ Molecular, Cheeky La La, Lola Dean, Vaudie Va-Boom and your weekly loud mouth - Dottie Lux! 7:30pm. $5-$10 slinging scale. 21+.

  • Also Friday: First Friday Follies at the Stork Club in Oakland, 2330 Telegraph Avenue (map). This month's show is "Rock Out with Yer Cock Out!!" The show will open with a performance by the band Scission, followed by burlesque from Sparkly Devil, Kitty Von Quim, Dottie Lux, Vera DeVille, Isis Starr, The Reverend Mother, and The Empress. With your hostess Juicy D. Light and the No-Wear Sistas! 9pm. No cover (free), but donations are welcome! 21+.

  • Saturday, January 8: Le Boy at the White Horse Inn in Oakland, 6551 Telegraph Avenue (map). This month, Dicky Luv and Fella-Fem take Le Boy into outer space for some far-out boylesque in the East Bay! Doors at 7pm, show at 8. $10, 21+.

  • Monday, January 10: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue (map). This Monday, the Hubbas welcome the Sin Sisters of Santa Cruz! It's a show transplanted from the coast to Oakland, featuring Madam Chartreuse, Miss Balla Fire, Cyanide Sin, Babraham Lincoln, Dorian Faust, and Patty Cakes Delicious! With special guest Dottie Lux of Red Hots Burlesque and your hosts Kingfish and Eddie! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15. $5, 21+.

  • Tuesday, January 11: Séduction Féroce at Era Art Bar and Lounge in Oakland, 19 Grand Avenue (map). You've seen Midnight Magenta Muse as the seductive stage kitten, now this Tuesday see her take the stage as a performer! Also featuring performances by
    The Rebel Kings, Billie Boudoir, Roxy Reve, Kitty Von Quim, Darla Lush, Moan Cheri, Ms. Louisa, Dixie Delish, and the Stripping Granny! With your emcee, Ms. Ruby Vixen of Debauchery, DJ Paul Rosas, and stage kitten J'Adore! 8pm. $5, 21+.

  • Also Tuesday: Back Country Burlesque with Bombshell Betty, the Burlesquteers, and Fromagique at the Elbo Room in San Francisco, 647 Valencia Street (map). Enjoy an evening of rockin' rural entertainment featuring country picnics, rodeo sweethearts, line dancing ladies, trailer park hijinks, and more! Join MCs A. Randy Johnson and Patina DeCopper as they make you roll in the aisles with laugher, and introduce burlesque acts by Bombshell Betty, Red Velvet, If-N-Whendy, Dangerous Delilah, Pearl E. Gates, Pickles Kintaro, Mint Julep, Sindee Rose, Andi Stardust, Laika Fox, Baby Blue Boom Boom, Cinnamon Stick, Wanda Wonderland, Nicky Cola, Kitten Kandy, Mistress Marla Spanks, Pyro Pantera, Velvet Vixen, Lezzie McFaggerson plus Burlesqueteers so new they don't have stagenames yet! With live musical accompaniment by Fromagique. Yowzas! Doors at 9pm, show at 9:30. $10 general, $30 for a cabaret table for two (get there early!). 21+.
