San Francisco area burlesque for July 7 to July 13, 2010

With a variety of shows spread out across this week, there's bound to be a show that will fit anyone's schedule and burlesque appetite. From the rock and roll of Barbary Coast Burlesque, to the retro flair and vocalist stylings of Little Minsky's. And from the belly dancing of The Lucky Road, to the boylesque of Le Boy. There's all kinds of flavors of burlesque this week, each one just a bit different from the others.

So if you've already tried one flavor, why not try something new, too?

• Wednesday, July 7: Barbary Coast Burlesque at The Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco, 1131 Polk Street. Join host Virginia Suicide and performers Simone de la Ghetto, Lady Monster, Honey Penny, sASSy Hotbuns, and Barbary Coast Burlesque's own Bunny Pistol for the hottest show on Polk Street! 9pm. $6, 21+ w/ID.


• Thursday, July 8: Little Minsky's Burlesque and Variety Show at Club Deluxe in San Francisco, 1511 Haight Street. Alotta Boutté will be the Mistress of Ceremonies at this month's show. Starring Sid Scenic and Wiggy Darlington, Mai Tai, Amelia Mae Paradise, Miss Balla Fire, Sugar La Vie, Miss Mae Western, ElectriKat, Ava Lanche, Ethel Merman, and Joe Wicht. Doors at 9pm, show at 10. $5, 21+ w/ID.


• Friday, July 9: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street. Dottie Lux brings you a different show every single week! Each event promises the seductive and spicy, absurd and amusing all from local and visiting talent. Show at 7:30pm. $5-10, sliding scale. 21+ w/ID.


• Also, Friday: Baxtalo Drom and Hubba Hubba Revue present The Lucky Road - Special Edition at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco, 375 Eleventh Street. A gypsy-punk dance party and cabaret show!. Featuring Sister Kate, Rose Harden, Orchid Bellydance Troupe, Kami Liddle, Orchid Mei, and Molotov! With musical guests Dia de Los Muertos All-Stars! Antics by Doktor Bordello! Dance music by DJ ALXNDR! 9pm. $10, advance tickets available online at dnalounge.com. 21+ w/ID.


• Saturday, July 10: Le Boy at the White Horse Inn in Oakland, 6551 Telegraph Avenue. Queer, gender-bending boylesque. Every second Saturday of the month! Doors at 7pm, show at 8. $10, sliding scale. 21 and older.


• Sunday, July 11: Naked Girls Reading - San Francisco at the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco, 1519 Mission Street. Join Carol Queen, Dottie Lux, Lady Monster, Isis Starr, Kimberlee Cline and Hollie Stevens while they provide their favorite words of advice, How-To's and special tips. 7pm to 9pm. $15 general admission, $20 front row. Advance tickets available. 18 and older only.


• Monday, July 12: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. Kingfish and Eddie emcee shows so hot, you'll have to wear your sunglasses at night! This week, the show will feature Flame Cynders, Dixie DeLish, Ophelia Coeur de Noir, Vivi Ennui, Francine Dead, and the Mischievous Maidens! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15. $5, 21+ w/ID.


• Tuesday, July 13: A Burlesque Pajama Party at the Elbo Room in San Francisco, 647 Valencia Street. Hosted by Bombshell Betty and Fromagique, enjoy and evening of naughty stories, tooth fairy temptation, & sleepover shenanigans, Burlesqueteer style! With live musical accompaniment by Fromagique! The show will feature performances by Bombshell Betty, Cherry Chapstick, Ivana Wood, Mimi Merlot, Wanda Wonderland, Nirvanah Bliss, and Sindee Rose!
