San Francisco area burlesque classes and lessons for July 2010

It's summer, and there's no better time to start taking burlesque classes! The weather is great, and the days are long. So even when you finish the evening classes, there's still sunlight in the sky. You'll want to take some classes now before everybody and her sister will be enrolling this fall when the Christina Aguilera and Cher movie "Burlesque" hits the theaters!

Even if you're already performing, you may want to take more classes with various teachers, as there are different "schools" of burlesque. It can only benefit you to keep learning and working hard to evolve as a performer!

Fortunately, we have three excellent burlesque stars in the San Francisco Bay Area who also conduct classes on a regular basis. They are listed below in chronological order of the first class offered.

So whether you're aspiring to be the next Dita Von Teese, or you simply want to learn something new for yourself or that someone special, there's a burlesque class and teacher just waiting for you!

Hot Pink Feathers Showgirl Academy

The Hot Pink Feathers are one of the hottest dance troupes in the San Francisco Bay Area! They've performed at many burlesque festivals, appeared on NBC's America's Got Talent, and they perform annually at SF Carnaval. In addition, they have a monthly show called Burlesque n' Brass with Blue Bone Express at Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland on the first Saturday of the month. They were voted Best Dance Company in the San Francisco Bay Guardian's Best of the Bay in 2008, and they specialize in World Cabaret and Samba Burlesque dance styles.

Kellita, who is the founder, artistic director and leader of the Feathers, is the primary teacher of the classes at the Academy, which is located near the Civic Center BART station in the SOMA area of San Francisco at 10th Street and Minna.
