San Francisco area burlesque for the week of June 8, 2009

Woo! That Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend was a blast! Met so many burlesque people from around the world. Saw so many wonderful performances! Seemed like there was something to do and see 24/7! Oh my, how burlesque people know how to party! But now I've got to catch up on my stuff, including this "Week in SF Burlesque!"

Guess what? A bit of BHOF is coming here to the Bay Area! In addition to the locals who performed in Vegas (Bunny Pistol on Thursday night, Kiss Me Kate as a pick-up artist on Friday night), Alpha Psi Ecdysia from SUNY New Paltz is performing! They're one of the only university-affiliated burlesque troupes in the United States. I met some of them this past weekend, and I'm excited to see them perform at Little Minsky's on Thursday and Spookshow-A-G0-Go on Sunday!

• Monday, June 8, 2009: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. Lady Satan, Flame Cynders, Kiss Me Kate, Bootsy LaRue, Honey Lawless, Riff Ditties, and Wiggy Darlington & The Naughty Bits! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15ish. $5, 21+ w/ID.


• Tuesday, June 9: Pajama Party with Bombshell Betty, Fromagique, and Company at the Elbo Room in San Francisco, 647 Valencia Street. Grab your pillow and your sexiest nighty, because we're throwing a PAJAMA PARTY! Join us for a burlesque extravaganza with live musical accompaniment by Fromagique. Featuring Bombshell Betty, Red Velvet, The AMAZING Coconuts, Tiger von Claus, Foxy Chartreuse, Peggy Pistolwhip, Penny Paperback, If-N-Whendy, Agnes O'God, Dia Bolique, Toot Sweet Petite, and more! 9pm to midnight. $8, 21+ w/ID.


• Wednesday, June 10: Barbary Coast Burlesque at Annie's Social Club in SF, 917 Folsom Street. Barbary Coast Presents... A Night to Spice Up Your Life!! Starring Pin Key Lee, Flame Cynders, sASSy Hotbuns, Juicy D. Light, Cupcake, Tinky Sparkle, The Flying Fox, and Bunny Pistol. With Sexy Hostess Virginia Suicide! Show at 8pm. $5, 21+ w/ID.


• Thursday, June 11: Little Minsky's at Club Deluxe in SF, 1511 Haight Street. Little Minsky's is brought to you by Douglas Good (of Cabaret Verdalet), The Flying Fox (burlesque glamour girl). This month's show includes performances by New York's famous Alpha Psi Ecdysia's Miss Elixir, Lucida Sans, Angelique A'lamode, Gemma Stone and Izebel Vivant, and also hostess Gemma Stone. And more! Show at 10pm. $5, 21+ w/ID.


• Friday, June 12: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street. Hosted by Succulent & Nubile Virginia Suicide. With Performances by Dottie Lux, Monifa, Lily Le Rouge & Kellita. Live Music Brought to you by Lucifer's Strip Club Band! And Special Appearance by Mary Mary. Show at 7:30pm. Free, 21+ w/ID.


• Sunday, June 14: Spookshow A-Go-Go: Lezbo-A-Go-Go at The Stud in SF, 399 9th Street. Live Burlesque Performances by Ruby Vixen, Dottie Lux, Ophelia Coeur de Noir, Kitty Von Quimm, Steven Satyricon and Gemma Stone, Angelique A'Lamode, Miss Elixir, Izebel Vivant from Alpha Psi Ecdysia (New Paltz, NY) and more including Sideshow Oddity "The Horrifying and Harsh Reality." Hosted by Real life Homosexual- Virginia Suicide. Music from DJ Drama Bin Laden, Pink Slip. We have an amazing queer cast and are delighted to have Alpha Psi Ecdysia on their West Coast tour. Show at 7pm $7, 21+ w/ID.
