Help Rubenesque Burlesque get to the Toronto Burlesque Festival. Give by Tuesday, June 26!

The Bay Area's own Rubenesque Burlesque have been selected to perform at the Toronto Burlesque Festival this July, but they could use your assistance to for airfare to get the troupe to Toronto and back!



They've set up an Indiegogo site to aid in this effort. Simply go there or to www.rubenesqueburlesque.com to contribute to their fund!

Once there, you'll notice that there are various levels at which you can contribute. For example, for a $10.00 contribution, you may get free entry to a Red Hots Burlesque show at El Rio in San Francisco! That's quite the deal. Not only do you get a show, but you help some performers get to Canada. Other perks include signed photos, baked goods, a date with the troupe, and more at advanced levels.

But any amount will help! They're trying to raise $10,000, so even if you can only contribute a $1, that will put them a buck closer to their goal of getting to Toronto.

But be sure to contribute before the campaign ends this Tuesday, June 26!

Rubenesque Burlesque has been entertaining, insipiring, and informing audiences since 2007. Led by Juicy D. Light of First Friday Follies, this troupe of voluptuous performers have performed at the Hubba Hubba Revue, First Friday Follies, and other shows in the Bay Area, and The Slipper Room in New York City, and Monday Night Tease in Los Angeles.

All Star: Trek vs. Wars Burlesque tonight at the Memorial Day Hubba Hubba Revue show at Oakland's Uptown

It'll be Captain Kirk vs. Darth Vader! Well, it'll be hosts Captain Kirkfish and Darth Presson, but the performers will be showing off their sci-fi sides tonight as Star Trek and Star Wars burlesque collide at the Uptown Club in Oakland at the Hubba Hubba Revue show!


Mistress Pon-Farr, Bunny Pistol, Alotta Boutté, Alexa Von Kickinface, Pickles Kintaro, Nerdgasm, and Rubenesque Burlesque will all be performing acts inspired by your favorite Star Wars and Star Trek memories! Oleeander Moonbase Alpha will be inspiring "Hoorays!"

On Thursday, December 15, RHB's School of Shimmy will be conducting a Burlesque 101 class at Tease Me Boutique in Berkeley!

It'll be a beginners class perfect for those just getting started in burlesque. You'll learn some of the history of burlesque, some basic choreography, and the importance of attitude and developing a stage persona.

COCO LECTRIC (Austin, Texas) is a classically trained dancer, actor, and vocalist. With an absolute love of performing, she graces stages all over the world. She is a founding member of The Jigglewatts Burlesque (Austin, TX) and the Headmistress of The Austin Academy of Burlesque. Coco won “Queen of Burlesque 2010” of the New Orleans Burlesque Festival. She was “2010 Texas Performer of the Year” from the Hotrods and Heels festival and won the “Audience Choice Award 2009,” at the Texas Burlesque Festival. Coco performed in “Cointreau presents Dita Von Teese" with Special Guests in New Orleans. She was a featured performer in this past year's Windy City Burlesque Festival, Montreal Burlesque Festival, Texas Burlesque Festival and headlined at the Southwest Burlesque Festival. She performed Opening Night at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas 2010 and in the Miss Exotic World and Reigning Queen of Burlesque competition in 2011. This will be a quick posting about the Red Hots Burlesque this week, as I'm in Las Vegas getting ready for the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend! But more about that in a later post. What's going on with Red Hots?

They'll have three shows this week, then Dottie Lux of RHB is hosting a Dr. Sketchy's SF event on Saturday!

Hubba Hubba Revue brings back the '90s this Friday, March 25

The 1990s. It was a time when the internet became popular. Grunge came to mean a type of rock music. And it was a time when cell phones got really small and popular! And this Friday at the DNA Lounge, the Hubba Hubba Revue is reviving all of these memories in their show, "Hubba Hubba Revue: The 90's Show!"

It'll be a show filled with fun and laughter. Join host Kingfish as he will introduce each performer, whether it's pole acrobat Kara Nova or Sparkly Devil. And he will do that for every performer! Plus the band will be 120 Minutes. Hooray!

So catch the spirit by wearing some of those grunge flannel shirts and some of those funky jeans. And bring you ear plugs, as the music may get pretty loud! The doors will open at 9:00 p.m., and the show will start at 10:00. The DNA Lounge is located at 375 11th Street in San Francisco (map).

Oakland burlesque! First Friday Follies happens this Friday, October 1

Oakland has several regularly scheduled burlesque shows, but there is only one show happening this Friday night in the East Bay at the Stork Club! And that means that it's got to be time for First Friday Follies, Oakland's own community-supported giggles and jiggles!

Towards the end of this month's Oakland Art Murmur, the art walk that happens on the first Friday of the month in Oakland's Uptown district, the Stork Club will welcome burlesque fans for a free show that will feature Fella Fem's Dicky Luv, Bitter Waitress, Rubenesque Burlesque, Francine Dead (read the SFBR interview!), Cupcake, and more!

This month's show will start at 9 p.m. and will feature emcees Juicy D. Light and Simone Campbell! And you'll not want to miss comedian Candy Churilla, who has appeared on NBC's Last Comic Standing, KFOX's Greg Kihn Show, was a third place winner of California's Funniest Female Contest in 2009, and was recently on Creepy KOFY Movie Time!
