There will be two shows this Friday marking two temporal milestones in the San Francisco burlesque scene.

sASSy's Seaside Burlesque will be celebrating their one year anniversary of free burlesque shows in Pacifica by having a show with a lot of talented performers from the Bay Area! And not to break their string of free shows, this one is also free! With a complimentary lead-off performance by the "worlds greatest rock band," Live Evil! Oh yeah!

While sASSy's has just started their showbiz career, the Cock-Ts are winding up their seventh year! Yes, this crew of burlesque cheerleaders are getting ready to head into the real world. But, before they take off their uniforms, they're putting on one last show for all of their fans. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for "Too Cool for School with the Cock-Ts" at the Rickshaw Stop!

They've gathered their clique for this last show. The Devil-Ettes, Delilah, Dottie Lux, and more will perform! It'll be a show for everyone at the high school to talk about at the reunions!

Celebrate Kingfish's birthday at Monday's Hubba Hubba Revue show at the Uptown

This Monday night, March 14, it'll be a celebration at the Hubba Hubba Revue show at the Uptown Club in Oakland! It'll be Kingfish's birthday!

It's his birthday, but you'll get the present of a fantastic show that has been put together. A lot of Hubba Hubba favorites, such as McPuzo and Trotsky, Room for Cream, Wiggy Darlington, Sid Scenic, Honey Lawless, Bunny Pistol, and more, will perform for all assembled. Plus, Sparkly Devil and Zip the What-Is-It? will be guest hosting! It's a fantastic lineup of some of the Bay Area's finest burlesque performers!

Since this is the first Hubba Hubba Revue show since last Thursday when he passed away, it will also be a celebration of Eddie Dane's life. There is an Eddie Dane Memorial Bash in the works, but Eddie will be shown a lot of love at this and upcoming Hubba Hubba Revue shows. So join with other fans and members of the Hubba Hubba family in sharing remembrances of the joy and laughter that Eddie brought to the world.

The doors will open at 9:00 p.m., and the show will start at 10:15. The cover is $5.00, and you'll need to be 21 or older to get into the club. The Uptown is located at 1928 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland (map). It's very close to the 19th Street BART station, and there is street parking available.

Kingfish hosts Séduction Féroce this Tuesday, December 14

Join your old pal Kingfish of the Hubba Hubba Revue as he emcees this month's Séduction Féroce show at Era Art Bar and Lounge in Oakland this Tuesday night!

And what a fantastic show it promises to be! Dottie Lux of Red Hots Burlesque will be one of the performers, as will Kitty Victorian of Washington, D.C. Ophelia Coeur de Noir and Vixen Noir are both burlesque veterans who will entertain you with their finely honed skills.

Plus enjoy the work of performance artist P-Raw, Whore of the Underworld! And you're sure to enjoy Séduction Féroce regular Billie Boudoir. She usually impresses with her violin-playing ability and use of technology to produce some unique music.

There will also be many more performers, with a a nice mix of those who usually don't find themselves in the same show. The full lineup is below.

Era Art Bar and Lounge is located at 19 Grand Avenue in Oakland (map), which is just several blocks away from the 19th Street BART station. The doors open at 8:00 p.m., and the show will start at 9:00. Cover is $5.00.

Séduction Féroce is a burlesque cabaret variety show that happens every second Tuesday of the month at Era Art Bar and Lounge! Doors open at 8pm and show starts at 9pm.

Barbary Coast Burlesque: Sideshow Grind this Wednesday, April 14

Jodi Waseca performances and burlesque classes

I've been going through all of my event notices and email messages and noticed that there will be a lot of shows and classes involving Jodi Waseca coming up.

Jodi is a performer and teacher from the North Bay. Tonight at the Hubba Hubba show at the Uptown, she'll be performing as part of Room for Cream. On Friday, January 15, she'll be performing as part of the band Brothers Horse at Hubba Hubba Revue--Special Edition! at the Uptown Club in Oakland (Corrected 1/12/2010). On January 25, she'll be performing with her burlesque troupe Jellyfish Kiss at Uptown Hubba Hubba. And on January 30, she'll be on stage with Room for Cream as part of Hubba Hubba Revue: Caravan-tastic! show at the Paradise Lounge in San Francisco.

Burlesque classes starting in December in the San Francisco Bay Area

Looking for burlesque classes in December? There are two classes that I'm aware of in the Bay Area.

The first takes place in San Francisco at the studios of Bombshell Betty. The class is
Bombshell Betty's Intro to Burlesquercise Mini-Session. It runs for three weeks starting on Wednesday, December 2. Classes meet once per week from 7 to 8:30pm. Here's the class description:

Been looking for a sexy workout or just want more excitement in your life? Come join in on the fun with this special introductory series. In addition to the unique bump-and-grind warmup and workout that Burlesquercise is famous for, you will learn the burlesque strut, how to create your own retro style dance moves and choreography, how to work a boa, twirl tassels (no nudity required) and more! You'll also learn the choreography for the dance numbers most often performed by "Bombshell Betty's Burlesqueteers," so pull your favorite lingerie out of hiding in the top drawer and let's shake it... with Burlesquercise!

I've just recently learned that Jodi Waseca of Room for Cream will be teaching burlesque classes in Sebastopol! So if you're in the North Bay and thought that the drive into San Francisco was a bit too long to take a class, this may be the the perfect solution for you!

I've seen Room for Cream perform a number of times at various Hubba Hubba Revue shows. Jodi is known for her belly dancing skills and performances influenced by hobo and gypsy cultures. Jodi's classes will be on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9pm at Core Motion Studio in Sebastopol. For more information about Jodi and her classes, please visit www.teachstreet.com/teacher/jodi-waseca. Here's the class description she sent me:

Beginning Burlesque classes with Jodi Waseca of Room For Cream in Sebastopol! Every week we will go over a little history, stage presence tips, dance technique and choreography ideas to get your creative juices flowing! Learn how to incorporate comedy, titillation and different dance forms into a fun, cohesive performance. Come have fun with us in a super safe, supportive environment! Let your inner sass shine!
Classes are held at Core in Motion Studio in Sebastopol (134 Weeks Way, in the town plaza-studio #707.823.1074) and are $13 per class with discounts available for multiple class purchases.

If you have any questions, both instructors may be contacted through the websites mentioned above. I'm sure they'd be willing to answer any questions that you may have!

I'm also planning to put together profiles of the various burlesque schools and instructors in the area. As it's said, they'll be coming soon! :-)

Is there Room for Cream with Kingfish and Eddie around while they're navigating Dangerous Curves (and Dangerous Dan) on the Sid Scenic route? Will they be blinded by the Juicy D.
