Join The Devil-Ettes as they dance at the annual celebration of France's Grand Garcon and Raconteur Extraordinaire: Serge Gainsbourg! Born Lucien Ginsburg in Paris before recreating himself as one of the world's most influential singer/songwriter/ music arrangers, our beloved Bad Boy would be 82 this weekend--if he hadn't smoked, drank, and fornicated himself to death nearly 20 years ago! Co-founders Brother Grimm, Pink Frankenstein, and California Kid will be playing Serge hits and the best of our Dancedelic Melange of '60s. Shagadelic attire encouraged.

Called "Best Substitute for a Parisian Disco" by the Bay Guardian and "carbonated, contagious fun" by SF Weekly, Bardot a Go Go celebrates its 12th year of playing swinging '60s French music.

Here are the other details:

1st Annual SF Songbird Festival presents… SOUL SHAKEDOWN!

Where: The Rickshaw Stop 155 Fell Street SF
When: Thursday July 30th
8 pm/ $10

All ages

Who:
Lord Loves A Working Man
The Struts
The Hi-Nobles
plus The Devil-Ettes dancing before each band!

LORD LOVES A WORKING MAN
Based out of the Mission District of San Francisco, Lord Loves A Working Man is a 9-piece band inspired by the raw and emotive sound of the Southern Soul shouters and horn-driven Rhythm & Blues of the 1960s. Mixing originals with obscure covers, LLAWM puts everything they got into respectfully invoking the spirit of old soul music while giving it their own distinct voice. "These men pour their hearts out in songs that make audience members alternately work up a sweat and hold each other very, very close." -SF Weekly
http://myspace.com/lordlovesaworkingman

THE STRUTS
"The Struts are a five-piece, female fronted, full-throttle rhythm and blues outfit from Oakland, CA. They've got a high energy live show, a dedicated Bay Area fan base and an exciting "Rhythm-N-Grit" sound. Simply put... It's fast. It's loud. And when singer, Farrah Ancell, steps up to the microphone -- when you hear her deliver that first note with all the grit and growl of a young Etta James -- you'll know something serious is about to go down. It's punk rock in the juke joint and it swings like a mother." --SF Chronicle
http://myspace.com/struts

THE HI-NOBLES
The Hi-Nobles play soul from the garage, and garage from the soul. With a precision-tight band holding together a live show in danger of bursting apart, a beat to get you out on the floor and the tunes to keep you there all night, The Hi-Nobles testify and deliver! It's abandon and energy, pounding and resounding, the 60s mod garage soul returning to the 21st century. Played with fever, sung with inspiration, brash, bold, too hot to hold, hard driving, always striving, too cool for your school, too raw for your ma!
http://myspace.com/thehinobles

THE DEVIL-ETTES
SF's go-go sweethearts show off their dance moves before each band. "The Devil-Ettes make an extra effort to deliver an authentic go-go dancing act. Working as a collective, they spend hours examining old '60s beach party films, television shows, records and wardrobes to respectfully replicate the Watusi, the Twist and the Swim - all with the right wink and a smile." --SF Chronicle
