sASSy's getting started and the Cock-Ts are graduating this Friday, April 15

There will be two shows this Friday marking two temporal milestones in the San Francisco burlesque scene.

sASSy's Seaside Burlesque will be celebrating their one year anniversary of free burlesque shows in Pacifica by having a show with a lot of talented performers from the Bay Area! And not to break their string of free shows, this one is also free! With a complimentary lead-off performance by the "worlds greatest rock band," Live Evil! Oh yeah!

So drive on over to Winters Tavern this Friday evening, which is conveniently located just off of Highway 101 on 1522 Francisco Boulevard (map). The parking is free, and so is the show!

While sASSy's has just started their showbiz career, the Cock-Ts are winding up their seventh year! Yes, this crew of burlesque cheerleaders are getting ready to head into the real world. But, before they take off their uniforms, they're putting on one last show for all of their fans. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for "Too Cool for School with the Cock-Ts" at the Rickshaw Stop!

They've gathered their clique for this last show. The Devil-Ettes, Delilah, Dottie Lux, and more will perform! It'll be a show for everyone at the high school to talk about at the reunions!

The Rickshaw Stop is located at 155 Fell Street in San Francisco (map). It's so close to City Hall there may be a scandal! Tickets are available for purchase online at www.ticketfly.com/event/28773/, and each ticket is just $10.00. Doors open at 8:00 p.m., and the show starts at 9:00. Be there or be square!

Yes, it's true! After 7 years of high school hi-jinx, San Francisco's #1 Burlesque cheerleading squad is hanging up their pom-poms and finally graduating! But where will the girls go after high school? What could posibly be more fulfilling than ruling the school and making those chess club dorks... eat staples? San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for April 14 - April 20, 2011

It's another week with a whole plethora of shows from which to choose.

Of course, there is the Eddie Dane Memorial Bash on Thursday at the DNA Lounge which will feature a lot of entertainment as well as memories of Eddie. Even if you didn't know him all that well, it will be a great way to learn about him from other people as they tell their stories. Plus there will be lots of music and burlesque!

On Friday, the Cock-Ts will be performing in their last show together at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco's Civic Center. They've also got their pals the Devil-Ettes, Dottie Lux, Delilah, and others to see them off the right way. With a cheerleading cheer!

That Friday will also see the one year anniversary celebration by sASSy's Seaside Burlesque in Pacifica at Winters Tavern. It'll be huge! Plus they've got Live Evil to play some rock music before the burlesque!

Saturday will feature Blanc et Noir at the Shattuck Down Low Lounge in Berkeley. This is the monthly show put on by Burlesque Moulin and Red Hots Burlesque. It's the show you want to see if you like a little continental flair with your burlesque experience. Plus they have lots of chairs!

Sunday will see Debauchery's monthly show. This month's show will benefit the Queer Community Center, and it'll be hosted by Vegas Jake. It'll be at the White Horse Inn in Oakland.

And if you still are desiring some burly-q on Monday, then Bombshell Betty and Fromagique will be bringing their springtime show "Too Many F&@%ing Bunnies" to the Uptown Club in Oakland. So if you missed it at the Elbo Room last week, make sure you don't miss it this time!

Featuring Eddie-loving performances by Sparkly Devil, Honey Lawless, Bunny Pistol, Rubenesque Burlesque, Madam Chartreuse, Miss Balla Fire, Cupcake, McPuzo & Trotsky, Gorilla X, Zip the What-Is-It?, and many, many more!.   • Also Thursday: Little Minsky's Burlesque and Variety Show at Club Deluxe in San Francisco, 1511 Haight Street (map). It's time once again for Little Minsky's! This month, join emcee Ethel Merman for a delightful show in the Haight. Guests will include the rag-style ukelele maestro The Dimestore Dandy and the the dance artist extraordinaire Rasa Vitalia. Plus there's a ravishing and talented collection of ecdysiasts including La Chica Boom, Bunny Pistol, Kiss Me Kate, Ariyana La Fey, Miss Honey Penny, and Dottie Lux! Doors at 9pm, show at 10. $5. 21+.

  • Friday, April 15: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Please welcome Bay Area favorites and a debut from the Paper Dolls! The show has so much more including surprise guests and a raffle where the proceeds go to the place of your choosing (fingers crossed for Tsunami Relief). Come hoot and holler for our performers this week Dottie Lux, Paper Dolls, AJ Molecular, Babraham Lincoln, Dixie DeLish and Roxy Reve! 7:30pm. $5-$10 sliding scale. 21+.

Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School of San Francisco will bring you Lury, who will pose in all long poses! 5pm to 8pm. $12 general admission, $10 students and teachers. 21+.

  • Also Saturday: Burlesque Moulin & Red Hots Burlesque present Blanc et Noir at the Shattuck Down Low in Berkeley, 2284 Shattuck Avenue (map). Because beauty is often best served in black and white... Performances by Katya Smirnoff-Skyy as Mistress of Ceremonies, Isis Starr, Dottie Lux, Casey Castille, Josie Starre, Chica Boom, Lady Satan, Delilah, Dixie DeLish & Roxie Reve! With special musical guest Holly Brewer. Doors open at 7:30pm, show at 8:30. $12 to $160. 21+.

  • Also Saturday: Original Sin Burlesque at Sanctuary Ultra Lounge in Livermore, 2369 First Street (map). Join the women of OSB at Sanctuary Ultra Lounge for one of many third-Saturday burlesque shows! Enjoy great drinks and tapas... and of course, the gals of Original Sin Burlesque! 10pm. $5. 21+.

  • Also Saturday: Cabaret Lunatique's “Celebrate North Beach” at Teatro ZinZanni in San Francisco, Spiegeltent Pier 29, The Embarcadero (at Battery Street, map). “Celebrate North Beach” is the second cabaret of 2011 and features local artists from the Bay Area including comedian Jeff Applebaum; interpreters of Argentine Tango Trio Garufa; aerialist Marina Luna; contortionist Dwoira Scheffer; and ZinZanni favorite Christine Deaver. They will be joined by sizzling burlesque performer Bombshell Betty; tango dancers Julian & Lisette; and clown Aji Slater. 11:15pm. $35 for premium, $25 for general admission.   • Sunday, April 17: Debauchery at the White Horse Inn in Oakland, 6555 Telegraph Avenue (map). Come help raise some funds and your pulse with a sizzling line-up of beautiful queers! Hosted by Vegas Jake. With performances by Damien, Minage, Ella a la Mode, Saranaqued, Patricia Misery, Ava Lanche, Roxy Picaflor, Violette de la Flamme, and
    Sheba Queen of the Night! Doors at 7pm, show at 8. Donation of $5 to $15 suggested for the Queer Community Center. 21+.

  • Monday, April 18: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue (map). This month Bombshell Betty, Fromagique, and the Burlesqueteers are bringing you a tribute to Springtime with "Too Many F&@%ing Bunnies"! With Burlesque performances by Bombshell Betty, Red Velvet, If-N-Whendy, Dangerous Delilah, Pickles Kintaro, Lezzie McFaggerson, Nirvannah Bliss, Eva D'Luscious, Pyro Pantera, Mistress Marla Spanks, Red Delicious, Pearl E. Gates, and Cheeky Sweets! Plus the April Burlesquercise graduates Scarlet O'Shame On Me, Poundcake Dee Light, Yve Jobs, Cosette L'Amour, Imogen Sparkles, Laura Borealis, Buttercup La Beaux, Luci Fur, Candy Pie, Cookie Crumbles, and Tipsy Daisy! With stage kittens Baby Blue Boom Boom! The show will be hosted by A. Randy Johnson and Patina DeCopper.   • Tuesday, April 19: Dr. Sketchy's SF presents The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco, 111 Minna Street (map). This is your opportunity to draw the Sisters as they will pose for you! The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is a leading-edge Order of queer nuns. Since their first appearance in San Francisco on Easter Sunday, 1979, the Sisters have devoted themselves to community service, ministry and outreach to those on the edges, and to promoting human rights, respect for diversity and spiritual enlightenment. All profits from this event will be donated to the Sisters for their good works. 7pm to 10pm. $12 general admission, $10 students and teachers. 21+. From 5:30 to 6:30, Diane Olivier will conduct a drawing clinic. You must email Diane to get on the list of 12 to be eligible, and pay the fee of $20 (includes Dr. Sketchy session).

Two Red Hots Burlesque shows this Friday and Saturday, September 17 and 18

This weekend will feature two Red Hots Burlesque shows in San Francisco: the weekly show at El Rio on Friday evening, and a "Special Addiciton" show on Saturday at the Center for Sex and Culture.

On Friday, see Oleeander Moon (aka Jodi Waseca of Room for Cream, Jellyfish Kiss Burlesque, and Risk-A Cabaret fame) and New Orleans' Miss Dottie von Polka make their debuts on the Red Hots stage! With the guest hosts the Cock-Ts! They're the #1 burlesque cheerleading squad, and don't you forget it!

Oleeander Moon (aka Jodi Waseca) has been fascinated with hobos and gypsies since the age of 3, when she picked up the art of dance and hasn't put it down since. Now as a bonafide adult, her fascination still lingers, and her love of dance has manifested into many forms including, but not limited to, Contemporary Fusion and Traditional Cabaret belly dance, Modern, Jazz and Hip Hop dance, Burlesque, Fire and Theatrical Performance...and generally a fusion of all of these. Jodi is the 2010 Breakthrough Fusion Dance Solo Artist, SF. She is also a good eater and likes cats and stripes.

Traveling across the country from the steamy streets of New Orleans, Miss Dottie von Polka's unique brand of Real SurReal Burlesque is sure to have the well seasoned Burlesque aficionado seeing spots. Dottie popped her Burly-Q cherry with Big City Burlesque out of Atlanta and is currently a free agent in the New Orleans Burlesque scene; most recently speckling the stage with the Storyville Starlettes. The Cock-Ts and Friends Go to Nationals this Thursday, May 13!

Yes, join your favorite burlesque cheerleaders he Cock-Ts this Thursday as they try to reach the Nationals. Of course, I think it's actually the Regionals, but whatever! Ha ha!

The show will be at the fabulous Rockit Room on Clement in San Francisco. So grab your prom date, homeroom hottie, or whomever you are dating (or "hanging out with") this week and cheer on your fave pompom sweeties! Of course, you've been held back for a few years, so you're 21 or older so you can see the show.

It'll be a like a sixth period rally gone wild! Totally!

San Francisco area burlesque for May 12 to 18, 2010

Naked girls reading, luchadores and buxoticas, aerialists in an aviary, and crazed burlesque cheerleaders all are coming your way this week!

On Saturday, the long-awaited San Francisco premiere of Naked Girls Reading comes to the Center for Sex and Culture thanks to Lady Monster Productions. Started last year in Chicago by burlesque superstar Michelle L'amour, Naked Girls Reading is just what it says. Naked girls. Reading. On Saturday, they'll be reading "The Wild Party" by Joseph Moncure March, and there will be a Charleston dance lesson from Sugar La Vie after the reading.

On Friday, Lucha VaVOOM returns to the Fillmore for another show filled with striptease and flying mini-chicken wrestling. Don't forget the mini-Chupacabra! Boo! Ha ha.

On Thursday and Friday, Cirque Noir presents "The Aviary of Madame Odile" at Supperclub in San Francisco. It's aerialists from the world of dance who will perform burlesque while suspended in air! There's a dinner show on Thursday, and a late night show on Friday.

On Thursday, the Cock-Ts and friends go to Nationals at the Rock-It Room. Yes, your favorite cheerleaders will once again be trying to make the Nationals, and they're bringing their friends Bunny Pistol, Dottie Lux, Josie Starre, SFC Double Dutch, Nell Diamonde, and the Boner Jams. Hooray! Sis boom bah!

  • Thursday and Friday, May 14: Cirque Noir presents "The Aviary of Madame Odile" at Supperclub in San Francisco, 657 Harrison Street. Enter into dark evening of flight & fantasy with SF's favorite aerial burlesque performers: Alayna Stroud, Ana Hyatt, Amanda Bassolino, Deb Arana, Kegan Marling, & Grey Lux. With Master & Mistress of Ceremonies Chris Libby & Christina Ardemis! Auditory Entertainment by DJ Babbidge & Shain Carrasco! Thursday May 13th is a dinner show starting at 8pm, doors at 7pm.   • Also, Friday: Lucha VaVOOM at The Fillmore in San Francisco, 1805 Geary Blvd. Special Mexican Celebration edition of Lucha VaVOOM – just for San Francisco! Starring Super Parka, Mysterioso, Magno, the beloved Li’l Chicken goes up against the mini Chupacabra. Burlesque Superstar Carolina Cerisola, Karis, Lucy Fur, Lux LaCroix & Ursulina – all South-of-the-border themed dances!   • Saturday, May 15: Naked Girls Reading at the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco, 1519 Mission Street. Lady Monster, Dottie Lux, Isis Starr, Kimberlee Cline and Ruby Vixen will read from "The Wild Party" by Joseph Moncure March. There will be actual nudity, so audience members must be 18 or older. Charleston dance lesson after the reading by Sugar La Vie. 7 to 10pm. $20 front row seats, $15 general.

  • Also Saturday: Bootie SF with the Hubba Hubba Revue at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco, 375 11th Street. The Hubba Hubba Revue returns to the Bootie stage at 11 PM. Hosted by Kingfish, the Hubba Hubba Revue is a fabulously mashed-up mix of striptease, comedy, and variety acts, packing laughs, tease, thrills, and smokin' hot mashups into a glittering spectacle you won't soon forget! Featuring Mynx d'Meanor, Honey Lawless, Bunny Pistol, Casey Castille, Sparkly Devil, and MC Kingfish with Zip, the What-Is-It?! Special guest DJ Tripp will be presenting a special all-video mashup set at midnight, while DJ Boyshapedbox also spins sets on the main floor. In the upstairs room, The Face Melters -- a.k.a. Fox and Kool Karlo -- return with beatmashed sets of bootlegs and electro remixes.   • Sunday, May 16: Debauchery at the White Horse Inn in Oakland, 6555 Telegraph Avenue. Celebrate the beginning of summer with the sexy, scintillating, saucy queers of Debauchery! A stripclub for queers of all genders! Featuring an enticing selection of salaciously smoldering strippers, $10 lap dances and naughty raffle prizes! Join Bombshell Betty and Fromagique for "South of the Border: A Burlesque Adventure with Too Many F&$!ing Bananas!" With Bombshell Betty, Red Velvet, If-N-Whendy, Dangerous Delilah, Chalupa X and Odessa Lil, Venomous Veronica Voom, Go-Go Bananas, Fina Fatale, Sure Thing Shirley, and The Burlesqueteers! Plus many debut performances from Bombshell Betty's newest Burlesquercise graduates: Bella Bonne-Ass, Mimi Merlot, Miss Amber Ale, Dottie McNaughty, Wanda Wonderland, Miss Sugar Tart, Scarlet O'Bare, and others!
