Bootie Seattle comes to San Francisco, as longtime Bootie favorite DJ Freddy, King of Pants comes down to rock the decks on the main floor for a special feature set!

Live on stage at 11 PM, Kingfish presents the Hubba Hubba Revue, as Bootie's stage gets taken over by some of the Bay Area's best burlesque performers, plus an amazing aerialist from Austin, Texas! Each of the performers will be wearing little hats, courtesy of Le Petit Hat Company, who will be selling their special hats at Bootie tonight!

And in the upstairs room, it's Glitterazzi, a night of explosive electro, mashups, and house, with DJs Meikee Magnetic and Mixtress Shizaam.

Launched in 2003 in San Francisco by A Plus D – aka DJs Adrian & Mysterious D – Bootie was the first club night dedicated solely to the burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup -- and is now the biggest mashup event in the world, with regular parties in several cities on four continents. Voted "Best Club Night" for the past six years, Bootie keeps your brain guessing and body dancing with creative song combinations, mixing and matching every musical genre, era, and style into one big dance party. For one night only, Bootie moves to Mezzanine for BOOTIE's BEST DANCE CREW! Every 30 minutes, one of four different dance crews will perform a mashup number, live on stage!

Providing the fierce go-go dance eye candy between performances – as well as their own epic dance numbers – will be LA's radically-inclusive R.A.I.D. (Random Acts of Irreverent Dance). Starting out as a guerrilla dance collective in 2006, R.A.I.D. terrorized the streets of Los Angeles before finding their home as Bootie LA's resident dance crew, known for their trademark gold spandex body suits and bizarre (and fun) dance sensibilities.

Also performing will be SF's go-go sweethearts, The Devil-Ettes. As masters of the lost art of go-go, these sassy, high-energy gals will be performing a special swinging '60s mashup for the occasion.

SF Boylesque's Bohemian Brethen – the choreographed dance troupe off-shoot of San Francisco's famed all-male burlesque revue – will also perform.

And rounding out the dance card will be Funk4Soul, the politically-conscious dance collective with a style informed by hip-hop, jazz, and Latin influences.

Launched in 2003 in San Francisco by A Plus D – aka DJs Adrian & Mysterious D – Bootie was the first club night dedicated solely to the burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup, and is now the biggest mashup event in the world, with regular parties in several cities on four continents. Hubba Hubba Revue this weekend: "Wild Things" and Bootie SFSocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for May 19 - May 25, 2011

It'll be another busy week of burlesque shows in the Bay Area!

One of the more noteworthy shows of the week will take place at the Shattuck Down Low Lounge in Berkeley on Saturday night. It's FRISKY: A Hot Pink Feathers Revue and Fundraiser, presented by Burlesque Moulin and the Hot Pink Feathers! This is the show that will raise funds to help costume the Feathers for when they will parade in SF Carnaval on Sunday, May 29. Feather fans aren't cheap, so help boost the Feathers' costume fund and be entertained in a swanky club! The show will also feature Lola Martinet of the Dolls of Doom and Chicago's Ray Gunn of the Stage Door Johnnies. Both will be performing with their groups at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas come June!

The Hubba Hubba Revue will be having three shows this coming week! Kicking things off will be "Wild Animals!" on Friday at the DNA Lounge in SF. They'll be celebrating Gorilla X's 10th birthday, as well as hosting some special guests including Australia's Baby Blue Bergman, Seattle's Lulu Bell, and Ray Gunn and Lola Martinet. Should be lots of fun! So fun, that they'll be returning to the DNA Lounge on Saturday to team up for a show with that mashup party, Bootie SF! Then on Monday, they'll have their weekly show at the Uptown in Oakland which will feature Baby Blue Bregman and Rita Braga of Portugal, among others!

On Sunday, there will be quite a few burlesque and cabaret performers at the Lagunitas Beer Circus at the Lagunitas Brewery Company in Petaluma. Bombshell Betty with Fromagique and the Burlesqueteers, the Vau de Vire Society, Last Night's Fling, Fou Fou Ha! and more will be performing under a big top tent. There will be a selection of foods and beer tastings to choose from, too. Sounds like a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Bryn will be having a benefit show on Sunday evening at the White Horse Inn in Oakland to help with the costs of top surgery. There's no cover fee posted, but I'm thinking that any amount that you can contribute would be appreciated. If you can't attend but would like to contribute, you may do so at bryn.chipin.com/top-surgery.

Note that this week's Original Sin Burlesque show at Sanctuary Ultra Lounge on Saturday night has been canceled. Please visit their Facebook Page for more information about this and future OSB shows.

I've skipped over some very worthwhile shows and events once again, so please take a look below to see them all. Whatever you decide, I hope that you experience some good times. Salut! :-)

San Francisco area burlesque for October 14 to October 20, 2010

Dr. Lucky (aka Lukki) from New York City is visiting the Bay Area, and she will be performing at several shows while she is here! She'll be performing at Little Minsky's on Thursday at Club Deluxe and at Red Hots Burlesque on Friday at El Rio. And she actually is a doctor, for she has a PhD and teaches the history of American burlesque in the NYU drama department!

Cirque Noir is staging their last shows at supperclub in San Francisco this Thursday and Friday under creative directors Alayna Stroud and Kate Law, as they both will be moving out of town to pursue other projects for at least a few years. Cirque Noir, however, will continue under the collective direction of Amanda Bassolino, Ana Hyatt, and Debra Arana. They're planning to start a burlesque bootcamp sometime early next year. Details to be announced.

Hubba Hubba Revue will be staging three shows: Friday's big Mad Science show at the DNA Lounge, Saturday's Pirate Burlesque Show with Bootie SF at the DNA Lounge again, then Monday's show at the Uptown Club in Oakland with Bombshell Betty and Fromagique.

You can tell that it's October, as shows with a Halloween theme are starting to appear. Besides the Hubba Hubba Revue show on Friday, Naked Girls Reading SF will be reading ghost stories at the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco on Saturday night! Also on Saturday night, Original Sin Burlesque at Sanctuary Ultra Lounge in Livermore will be having their Halloween show, as will Debauchery on Sunday evening at the White Horse Bar in Oakland.

Lastly, La Chica Boom will be performing at Red Hots Burlesque and Dr. Sketchy's SF at 111 Minna Gallery on Tuesday evening. She's the founder of Kaleidoscope, An Annual National People of Color Cabaret, which will be happening this year on October 28-30. In addition to the show, there will be an educational symposium and a pre-party and social event. For more information, and to purchase advance tickets, please visit www.kaleidoscopecabaret.com.

Have a good week, everyone! :-)
