This is a celebration of the Sixties when Go Go Girls ruled! This is Shindig 69. Featuring the rockin' tunes of The Cement Gardens (members of The Sermon), DJ's Cali Kid (Bardot A Go Go), Sergio Iglesias (Teenage Dance Craze), Otto von Stroheim (Tiki Oasis) Go Go sweethearts The Devil-Ettes, Kitten on the Keys, Kiki Bomb, Kellita, The Riff Ditties Orchestra, Alpenhorn and MUCH MORE! All proceeds benefit the Keep A Breast Foundation (www.keep-a-breast.org). The mission of Keep A Breast is to help eradicate breast cancer by exposing young people to methods of prevention, early detection and support through the arts.
Go Go music, Go Go dancers, and Go Go television shows dominated the 60s and kept kickin right into the 70s. But as 1969 heralded the end of a spectacular decade, so it also was the beginning of the end of the Go Go Era. While the Stooges* lamented 1969 as "another year with nothing to do," the Go Go-riffic Laugh-In was just hitting its stride as America's #1 TV comedy ('68 -'70).
While the Hippy movement and Psychedelia were becoming the new consciousness, across the U.S., and the rest of the world too, bouffanted, white-booted, mini skirted girls were kicking out the jams in their own way!
*That's Iggy Pop & The Stooges, not Larry, Curly, and Moe!
