San Francisco area burlesque for July 14 to July 20, 2010

Ahoy! Are ye havin' fun this summer? This week features pirate burlesque at the Hubba Hubba Revue show at the DNA Lounge on Friday. Nothing says fun like watching your favorite burlesque performers doff their pirate garb! Arr, me hearty!

On Monday, a whole new set of ecdysiasts will be making their East Bay debut at the Hubba Hubba show at the Uptown Club. Perhaps your new favorite will be performing that night!

And don't forget the rest of the weekly and monthly shows such as Red Hots Burlesque, Original Sin Burlesque, Debauchery, and Dr. Sketchy's San Francisco. All of the details of those shows and more are below.

• Thursday, July 15: Panty Raid at 540 Club in San Francisco, 540 Clement Street. Join DJ Ruby White for an evening of Garage, Bubblegum, Girl Groups and Rock 'N Roll (100% vinyl) at Club 540! With Go-Go Goddess Lady Satan! 10pm-2am. No cover, 21 and older.
  
  
• Friday, July 16: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street. Dottie Lux welcomes two out-of-town talents this week: Seattle's Pidgeon von Tramp and Reno's Viviennui! Plus hometown hotties Sugar Main, Lady Monster and the talented Uni and Her Ukelele! Show at 7:30pm. $5-10, sliding scale. 21+ w/ID.


• Also Friday: Hubba Hubba Revue: Pirates! at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco, 375 Eleventh Street. Join the blackhearted scalawags of the pirate ship "The Crimson Hubba" as they welcome aboard the sexy crew of international party sensation, BOOTIE, for a wild night of Bootleg Mash-Ups and Buccaneer Burlesque! • Sunday, July 18: Debauchery at the White Horse Inn in Oakland, 6555 Telegraph Avenue. In celebration of Femme-Con's return to Oakland, Debauchery brings you an evening of fierce and fabulous evening of sexy queer entertainment! Featuring performances by Pidegon Von Tramp (joining us from Seattle!), Sheba Queen of The Night, Penny Dreadful, Cherry Poppins, Roxy Picaflor, Ophelia Coeur De Noir, Sugarbush Lane, James Fancy, Vivi Ennui, Damien, Bean!, and Ella Ala Mode. • Monday, July 19: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. Join emcees A. Randy Johnson and Patina DeCopper for Bombshell Betty's and Fromagique's Pajama Party! With burlesque performances by Bombshell Betty, If-N-Whendy, Cherry Chapstick, Sweet Praline, Nirvana Bliss, Miss Sugar Tart, Mimi Merlot, Wanda Wonderland, Mint Julep, Miss Darling April du Bonnet, Violet Streak, Gwen Revere, and more! With live music from Fromagique! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15. $5, 21+ w/ID.


• Tuesday, July 20: Dr. Sketchy's San Francisco at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco, 111 Minna Street. This month Dr. Sketchy's welcomes Sister Kate as their models/performers! Sister Kate is a genre-crossing belly dance burlesque trio from San Francisco that consists of three bad ass bombshells: Wendy Darling, Sarah Campbell, and Ashley Blair. They also produce the popular monthly gypsy cabaret Baxtalo Drom - The Lucky Road, where they are showcased every fourth Friday at Amnesia in San Francisco's Mission district. Bring your pens, pencils, and pads to draw these three performers! 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. $10 general admission, $7 students/teachers with valid identification. 21+ w/ID.

San Francisco area burlesque for June 16 to June 22, 2010

This is the start of a few weeks of a plethora of shows!

Satan's Angel's Ta Ta Flambé Tour kicks off this week and continues next week. It will be the last chance to see the legendary Satan's Angel before she moves to Australia (Edited June 16, 2010). She'll be performing Friday at the Hubba Hubba Revue: Hell! show, having an Aloha Party at Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge in Alameda on Saturday, and teaching a Bump-N-Glide class and a Tassles and Spinners DIY class on Monday at Medium Reality Studios in San Francisco. For class and registration information, please click the links above. The tour continues with more performances and appearances the following week.

There are also some Pride events and shows happening such as Rally the Troupes 6 on Friday and Saturday, and the Debauchery show on Sunday.

The Birthday Suit Burlesque Tour makes a stop at Red Hots Burlesque on Friday, then Dottie Lux and Bunny Pistol join Kitty Victorian and Ms. Fever Blister and other performers in Citrus Heights for the Sacramento show on Saturday.

• Also Thursday through June 20 and June 24 to 26: The Dynamite Show Featuring Fou Fou Ha! at the Brava Theater Center in San Francisco, 2781 24th Street. “The Dynamite Show” is a “wildly unique” (NBC) song and dance review best described as "Fame" meets the Muppets. This up-beat musical spectacle will feature live neo-vaudevillian Dixie brass band tunes from the Gomorran Social Aid and Pleasure Club with “jaw-dropping dance numbers” and slapstick antics. It will follow the colorful characters of Fou Fou Ha! to Hollywood, as they are invited to audition for a reality-TV talent competition. They go through many dance numbers ranging from tangos to rock-opera tunes and finally arrive in Hollywood to audition in front of a panel of judges (cameos played by local celebrity performers TBA) only to realize that their “foolishness” may not have any room in the mainstream. 8pm. $15-25, advance tickets available at brava.org.
  


• Friday, June 18: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street. Dottie Lux hosts the Birthday Suit Burlesque Tour! Featuring Fever Blister from Los Angeles and Kitty Victorian of Washington, D.C., plus Ruby Vixen, Virginia Suicide, and Sugar Main. Show at 7:30pm. $5-10, sliding scale. 21+ w/ID.


• Also, Friday and Saturday, June 19: Rally the Troupes 6 at SOMArts in San Francisco, 934 Brannan Street. Drew Montana & Kentucky Fried Woman in association with the National Queer Arts Festival present Rally the Troupes 6: Two Nights of savvy and sexy queer performance! Featuring Starr69, Chan Dynasty, Cherry Poppins, Simone de la Getto, Pidgeon von Tramp, The Lovesax Sisters, and many more! 9pm. $15-20, advance tickets available at brownpapertickets.com.

It's called the Birthday Suit Burlesque Tour, because Kitty Victorian and Ms. Fever Blister who created the touring madness are both celebrating a June birthday! Featuring performances by Ms. Fever Blister, Kitty Victorian, Parker South of Dragstar Cabaret, Ms. Viviennui, Dottie Lux, Bunny Pistol, Heather Lynn, and Miss Lizzy D. Vine! 9pm to 1am. $10, 21 and older.


• Sunday, June 20: Debauchery at the White Horse Inn in Oakland, 6555 Telegraph Avenue. Break out your saddle-shoes, pegged-pants, poodle skirts, pom-poms and pompadours and get ready to celebrate Ms. Ruby Vixen's Birthday, Debauchery Style! We're kicking off June's Pride festivities with filthy hot hoppin' performances by Alotta Boutté, Damien, Ella Ala Mode, Kitty Von Quim, and more! Let's roll back the clock back to a more swingin' time! 1950's, sock-hop/greaser/rockabilly wear encouraged! Raffles and dancing, too! Doors at 7pm, show at 8. $5-15 sliding scale, 21 and older.
  


• Monday, June 21: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. It's Bombshell Betty Burlesqueteer Night at the ole Uptown Nightclub! Join band Fromagique and Bombshell Betty along with Red Velvet, If-N-Whendy, Lezzie McFaggerson, Cocao Loco, Vadge O'Fonor, Sindee Rose, Roxy Reve, and of course The Burlesqueteers! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15. $5, 21+ w/ID.


• Also Monday: Satan's Angel's Bump-N-Glide class and Tassles and Spinners DIY class at Medium Reality Studios in San Francisco, 916 Natoma Street. The Legend of Burlesque Satan's Angel will share her knowledge and experience with decades of performance as an exotic dancer and the world of burlesque. Bump-N-Glide class is two hours starting at 5pm and includes a brief history of burlesque, Satan’s Angel’s history and stories, stocking removal, tassel twirling, gowns, gloves, dusters and capes, and much more. Tassles and Spinners DIY class is also two hours, starting at 7pm, and Satan's Angel will teach you to how to make pasties with spinners and your own fringe tassels.
