Debauchery at the White Horse Bar in Oakland, 6551 Telegraph Avenue (map). Doors at 7:00pm, show at 8:00. $5.00 to $15.00 sliding scale. 21 and older. Hosted by Red Hots Burlesque's Dottie Lux, the theme of this show will be "Homotastic and Patriotic!" Hot Pink Feathers split their squad for an SF show and an East Bay show this Saturday, June 9

The acclaimed Bay Area dance troupe, Hot Pink Feathers, will be splitting up this Saturday. No, no. They didn't break up over an argument over who had the hottest pink feathers, but they'll be performing at two different shows that night! One group will be performing at Twang Bang Hillbilly Music and Burlesque Show at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, and the other will be performing at their monthly Burlesque n' Brass show in Oakland at Cafe Van Kleef!

The Feathers will be providing the burlesque at the Twang Bang Hillbilly Music and Burlesque Show. Providing the hillbilly music? The Dirty Hand Family Band, The Famous, The Shants, and The Rogers! Should be a good, foot-stomping time for everyone age 6 and older!

Hot Pink Feathers Showgirl Academy Classes

If you've ever wanted to learn to dance like the Hot Pink Feathers, there's lots of opportunities at the HPF Showgirl Academy!

If you'd like to dance with the Feathers in the San Francisco's Pride Parade or Alameda's 4th of July Parade, classes start this Tuesday at the Hot Pink Feathers Ballet Studio, 128 10th Street, in San Francisco. The Feather are also offering their "Crafting the Solo 4-Week Intensive: Create Your Own Burlesque Dance" class. If you've taken their 7-week "Crafting the Solo" workshop before, or if you've already performed a solo. This class is for you! This class will include a Costume Salon with Red Velvet, and the Character and Persona Development workshop with Dr. Lucky! Yes, for their 10th, the Hot Pink Feathers have pulled out all the stops! The hilarious and talented Kingfish of the Hubba Hubba Revue will be on and to be the master of ceremonies. In addition, the Devil-Ettes, SF Boylesque's Bohemian Brethren, Gorilla X, and Molotov will be there to help the Feathers celebrate!

Ain't it hard to believe that the Hot Pink Feathers have been in existence for 10 years now? Well, the troupe will soon celebrate this milestone, and they want you to save the date of May 6 in your calendars for their"10 Years of Hot Pink Feathers: A Burlesque Birthday Bonanza & Carnaval Fundraiser" at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco!

It'll be a grand time with one of the Bay Area's best known dance troupes! The guest list is still being put together, but there will be appearances by the Devil-Ettes, Kingfish of the Hubba Hubba Revue, and others! Whenever one thinks of burlesque shows on Fat Tuesday, one thinks of the Hot Pink Feathers! This coming Fat Tuesday, March 8, the Feathers will be having a show with their musical cohorts Blue Bone Express at Yoshi's in San Francisco!

Yes, it'll be just like being in New Orleans when you see this show! It's a fantastic way to celebrate Mardi Gras. Hot dancing from the Feathers, hot New Orleans jazz from Blue Bone Express, all in Yoshi's beautiful club in the Fillmore. It will be an evening to remember!

Burlesque n' Brass this Saturday, Hot Pink Feathers documentary planned

Besides having their monthly show at Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland (1621 Telegraph Avenue , map) for the first time in a few months this Saturday, February 5, the Hot Pink Feathers have exciting news! They are collaborating with a local filmmaker, Charlie Colon, on a documentary, "Light as a Feather."

They're having a fundraiser to help to complete the project. You can find out the film, the levels of giving, and you may become a prject backer at Kickstarter.com. I'm sure the Feathers will mention it at their show on Saturday.

They're also looking for volunteers at their shows, and for a graphic artist. All of the information is located below in an excerpt from their newsletter.

1. Light as a Feather

We are proud to share news with you about “Light as a Feather,” a new collaborative documentary film project between local filmmaker Charlie Colon and Hot Pink Feathers. Light as a Feather tells the behind the scenes story of Hot Pink Feathers preparing for Carnaval, and chronicles the lives of several women as they prepare to unleash their inner showgirls in public – many for the first time. Along the way, the viewer witnesses the humor, glee, uncertainties, poignancy, verve and transcendence that the journey to the big day evokes. We aim to capture the intimate stories of these women as they engage with themselves, the different facets of their lives, and their peers, on this potentially life-changing experience.

We have kicked off a fundraising campaign to help with production costs associated with Light as a Feather. A portion of the funds gathered will go towards clothing cast members (ie costumes! Yay!).

Celebrate the New Year's holiday with real San Francisco Bay Area burlesque shows!

It's time to ring in 2011, and what better way to party than by seeing some authentic burlesque shows in the Bay Area?

On Friday, December 31, the Hubba Hubba Revue will be having a New Year's Eve show with the Hi-Rhythm Hustlers and the Displayed Labors Sideshow at the Uptown Nightclub in Oakland. They'll have free champagne and a countdown to midnight in addition to lots of burlesque! The Hubbas will also have their weekly show on Monday at the same venue, so you can make it a Hubba Hubba New Year at the Uptown!

On Saturday, the Hot Pink Feathers and Blue Bone Express will be taking their show, Burlesque n' Brass, to the Blue Macaw in San Francisco. The Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland will be closed for the holiday, so they're taking their "Hair of the Dog" show on the road for this week.

• Friday, December 31: Hubba Hubba Revue's New Year's Eve Spectacular at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue (map). Enjoy free champagne and a countdown to midnight along with some fabulous burlesque performances by Flame Cynders, pole-dancer Kara Nova, Sparkly Devil, Honey Lawless, Vera DeVille, The Pink Flamingo, Madam Chartreuse, Miss Honey Penny, and Aerialist Little Miss Never! With the Displayed Labors Sideshow. And music from the Hi-Rhythm Hustlers. Doors at 9pm, show at 10. $10 before 9:30pm, $15 after. 21+.


• Saturday, January 1: Burlesque n' Brass at the Blue Macaw in San Francisco, 2565 Mission Street (map). Because their usual home is closed for the holiday, the Hot Pink Feathers and Blue Bone Express will take their "Hair of the Dog" show to the Blue Macaw. Celebrate the start of 2011 with a full 3 sets of booty-shaking music and dance! Doors at 8pm, show at 9. $10, tips welcome. 21+.

Hot Pink Feathers classes and news: September 2010 (revised)

This year, the Hot Pink Feathers will be celebrating their 10th anniversary! Starting in 2000, the showgirls of HPF have been delighting audiences with their own brand of World Cabaret Showgirl dance! Led by the Queen of Carnaval SF 2008 Kellita, they've performed on many stages across the country, appeared on television, and won awards such as the San Francisco Bay Guardian's "Best Dance Company" in the 2008 edition of the "Best of the Bay" polls.

They'll also be celebrating the four year anniversary of their show Burlesque n' Brass. Along with their musical collaborators Blue Bone Express, they've been wowing audiences at Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland since 2006. And on Saturday, October 2, it'll also be a celebration of Kellita's birthday, so expect an extra helping of gloss and glitter! It all starts when the doors open at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, and the show is for those 21 years of age and older. Cafe Van Kleef is located at 1621 Telegraph Avenue, near the 19th Street BART station.

The Feathers have also started up a Facebook Page. Just click on over there and click the "like" button, and you'll get updates through Facebook. That's so cool!

Burlesque n' Brass happens this Saturday at Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland

The Hot Pink Feathers is one of the most exciting and entertaining dance troupes in the Bay Area. They've been voted "Best Dance Company" by the San Francisco Bay Guardian's Best of the Bay polls, they regularly perform at San Francisco's Carnaval, and they've been seen on NBC television's America's Got Talent!
