San Francisco Bay Area burlesque for October 20 to October 26, 2011

This upcoming week's burlesque shows are dominated by the arrival of Satans Angel and her Ta Ta Flambe Tour. This legendary performer will be performing at Friday's Red Hots show, a Saturday evening dinner, performance, and storytelling event at Disco Volante in Oakland, and she'll be teaching a Sunday class at Viracocha in San Francisco. Also read the previous post for information about these events.

On Friday night, the world ends. Or so it will at the Hubba Hubba Revue's The End of the World show that night! Lee Presson and the Nails will be the musical guest, as Devil Doll had to pull out. But it's not the end of the world! Well, the new Rapture date is "probably" Friday, so maybe it is! The only thing that is certain, though, is that you'll have a good time at this show, end of the world or not! And if there's a next week, don't forget that the Hubba Hubba Revue has their weekly show every Monday night at the Uptown in Oakland!

There will be two opportunities to sharpen up your drawing skills at Dr Sketchy's San Francisco this week. On Saturday, the model will be Vivian de Milo outfitted Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome style. On Tuesday, Ava Lanche will be your vampire bride. Both events are at 111 Minna Gallery. You can always just go and watch, but it's usually more fun to sketch the models.

That's the roundup for this upcoming week. Enjoy!

Satan's Angel Ta Ta Flambé Tour comes to San Francisco

Satan's Angel, also known as "The Devil's Own Mistress" and "Queen of the Fire Tassels," will be starting her American farewell Ta Ta Flambé Tour this week in San Francisco.

A beloved legendary burlesque performer who started her career in San Francisco during the 1960s, Satan's Angel will be appearing in burlesque shows, teaching classes, and making appearances at various venues around the Bay Area over the next few weeks.

On Friday, June 18, she'll be doing a CSC Talk Show with Carol Queen at the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco starting at 9pm. The doors will be open at 8pm, and price of entry is on a sliding scale from $7 to $25. They'll be talking about her career and the history of burlesque in San Francisco. The Center for Sex and Culture is located at 1519 Mission Street.

Right after the CSC Talk Show, Satan's Angel will be performing at the Hubba Hubba Revue: Hell! show. Please see the previous post for more information.

On Saturday, June 19, she'll be at her Aloha Party in Alameda at Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge, which is located at 1304 Lincoln Avenue. She won't be performing, but she'll have autographed photos available. The party starts at 5pm and will go until 7pm.

If you're a performer, you'll not want to miss her classes! She'll be teaching two classes on Monday, June 21: Bump-And-Glide (5-7pm) and Spinners and Tassels DIY (7-9pm). It'll be $25 for each class, or $40 for both. Classes will be held at the Medium Reality Studios at 916 Natoma Street in San Francisco. For reservations, please email Stephanie@LadyMonster.com.

At Cafe du Nord on Wednesday, June 23, you will have a chance to see a performance of "Have Tassels Will Travel," a one-woman improvisational play written for her featuring stories and slides from her life, plus costumes she's worn in various shows. Also performing will be Miss de Minna and Lady Monster. The show will start at 8:00pm, but there will be a VIP meet and greet at 7:00 and a burlesque party after the show at 10:30. Tickets range from $10 for just the burlesque party (if available), to $20 for the party and show (available online at TicketWeb), to $40 for the VIP package. (To purchase VIP TICKETS, CALL 415-861-5016 between 2:00 and 6:00pm.)

On Thursday, she's scheduled to be at Dark Horse Cabaret at Cafe du Nord, then on Friday, June 25, she'll be performing at Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio (3159 Mission Street in San Francisco) starting at 7:30pm. This special show will be $10, and it will feature performances by Lady Monster, Isis Starr, EmpeROAR Fabulous, and Miss Balla Fire. You'll want to get there early, as the show will likely sell out since it's a smaller venue.

She'll be participating in the Dyke March on June 26 at 7pm at Dolores Park, then will be featured on the EHS Pilates float with The Devil-Ettes in the SF Pride Parade on Sunday, June 27, starting at 10am in San Francisco's Civic Center.

Satan's Angel has an amazing presence and persona. If you haven't seen her perform live, you won't want to miss this chance before she leaves San Francisco and America! And if you love burlesque, you owe it to yourself to see her one last time before she leaves these shores. Every performance of hers that I've seen has been absolutely unforgettable, and she is truly a Living Legend of Burlesque!

All of the events are posted on her website at www.satansangel.com/TOUR.html.
