Kentucky Fried Woman's 2011 Celebrity Memorial Show at Oakland's Bench and Bar tonight

Kentucky Fried Woman's show on Sunday, December 4, will celebrate the lives of celebrities and social activists. At the Bench and Bar in Oakland, you may see acts which celebrate the lives of such famous people as Amy Winehouse, Jane Russell, Pete Postlethwaite, Al Davis, Mike Starr, Warren Christopher, Elizabeth Taylor, Jack Kevorkian and more!

The show will be funny and uplifiting. It will feature performers such as Brock Cocker, Juicy D. Light, Honey Lawless, Kitty Von Quim, and many others. Hickie from Kenickie ("A hickie from Kenickie is like a Hallmark card, when you only care enough to send the very best!") is a group featuring burlesque stars such as Penny Whistle, Cherry Poppins, Sugarbush Lane, and others who I'm sure will be involved in the Jeff Conaway tribute act. With FemC Starr 69, and musical guest Alotta Boutté!

The doors will open at 7:00 p.m., and is scheduled to start at 7:30. The Bench and Bar is located at 510 17th Street in Oakland (map). Tickets are $10.00 apiece, and you're encouraged to attend in costumes related to the theme for their monthly Costume Parade!

Red Hots Burlesque School of Shimmy Showcase this Friday, March 18

Seven new performers make their debut this Friday at Red Hot Burlesque's School of Shimmy Showcase at El Rio in San Francisco!

Experience the excitement of seeing performers making their stage debuts as burlesque artists! Experience the satisfaction of being part of someone's life-altering moment! Those who are making their debuts as part of their School of Shimmy graduations include GG Dejanerio, The Pink Secret, Miss Twin Peaks, Kitten Le Claw, Broadway Betty, Barbary Doll, and Rubyfruit Jingles! Your host for the evening's festivities will be RHB's very own Dottie Lux!

El Rio is located at 3158 Mission Street (map). The show starts at 7:30 p.m., but get there early to get a good seat! Cover is $5.00 to $10.00 on a sliding scale of what you can afford, and you'll need to be 21 or older to get into El Rio.

Come with your sense of humor, get ready to enter the pink bubble. Red Hots Burlesque brings you the "city's best" bump and grind at the "happiest hour" in the bay!

Red Hots Burlesque School of Shimmy

All classes are open to students of any age or gender who want to shake it on stage or in the bedroom. No previous dance or performance experience is required. No deposit needed for class, however space is very limited and reservations are strongly encouraged. To reserve a spot email: redhotsburlesque@gmail.com with S.O.S. in the subject line. State which class(es) you are interested in and don't forget inquire about discounted rates! All classes are $30.

March 20th 1-3pm:Offered in Berkeley at the Shattuck Down Low
March 23rd 7-9pm in SF at Viracocha 998 Valencia St, SF CA In this two-hour workshop, students will learn the history of burlesque, how to create a persona and basic choreography. As well as learning to build your burlesque attitude; feel great about your body, and an open discussion about increased confidence and positive thinking.
