La Chica Boom in Cabaret Lunatique's "Celebrate Haight-Ashbury" this Saturday, August 6

This coming Saturday night, La Chica Boom will be hosting and performing in Cabaret Lunatique's "Celebrate Haight-Ashbury" show at Teatro ZinZanni's Spiegeltent on Pier 29 in San Francisco.

The show will celebrate the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco, and it'll feature local performers such as La Chica Boom, Teatro ZinZanni magician Brandon Rabe, juggler Thomas John, aerialists Cameron McHenry and Marina Luna, all-women clown troupe Circus Finelli, contortionist Nancy Kate Siefker and music from the band Aaron Glass and Friends! Teatro ZinZanni will host an evening of art, music, dance and “peace and love” with Cabaret Lunatique’s “Celebrate Haight-Ashbury” on Saturday, August 6 at the gorgeous Spiegeltent on Pier 29. As the sixth installment in a series of nine late-night cabarets each focusing on a distinctive San Francisco neighborhood, “Celebrate Haight-Ashbury” will let your inner bohemian run free in celebration of a community that defined America in the 60’s!

First launched in 2008, Teatro ZinZanni’s cabarets all sold out and were brought back this year due to popular demand. The current series began in March with “Celebrate Chinatown” and a further three additional evenings are scheduled for the remainder of the year focusing on the neighborhoods of SOMA, On the Waterfront, and The Hills.

Cabaret Lunatique celebrates the Castro this Saturday, June 4

Cabaret Lunatique will present the next in their series of shows highlighting San Francisco neighborhoods, "Celebrate the Castro," which will take place at Teatro ZinZanni's fantastic Spiegeltent at Pier 29 in San Francisco this Saturday, June 4.

Each show features a variety of acts, though they always have included burlesquers as part of the show. This month, Twilight Vixen Revue (with Stephen Camarota) and SF Boylesque have been selected to perform. Also performing will be community activist, actress, and singer Donna Sachet, transsexual actress and performer Cassandra Cass, aerialist Oliver K. Pavick, singer and actor Tom Orr, circus arts performer and Teatro ZinZanni regular Ling Rui.

Cabaret Lunatique's "Celebrate the Mission" this Saturday, May 14

This coming Saturday, see Cabaret Lunatique's next installment of their series of cabarets celebrating a San Francisco neighborhood! This month, the Mission District is the focus.

The performers will include Herbert Seguenza as Neil Diamante, spoken word artists Alejandra Mojica and Paul Flores, burlesque performer La Chica Boom (pictured), and DJ Ron Obregon. The show will be co-hosted by Ricardo Salinas, director of ZinZanni’s current show “Caliente” and Robert Lopez (aka El Vez), who also stars in “Caliente” as the character Cinco. You will find brief biographies of the performers at cabaretlunatique.org.

The cabarets take place in Teatro ZinZanni's Spiegeltent after the earlier show, "Caliente," ends. So it's a great venue, you just won't be getting the full dinner. There will be drinks and light food available for an additional cost, however, so you can get something to eat.

The cost of the show's tickets are $25.00 for general admission, and $35.00 for premium seating. Doors to the lobby will open at 11:15 p.m. Parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood, just keep an eye out for parking restrictions so you don't wind up with a parking ticket! Bombshell Betty performs in Cabaret Lunatique's "Celebrate North Beach" this Saturday, April 16

Bombshell Betty, one of San Francisco's most notable ecdysiasts, will be performing this Saturday night with Cabaret Lunatique, which is the late night, music, burlesque, and cabaret part of Teatro ZinZanni.

This year's series of performances will focus on San Francisco's neighborhoods. The series kicked off last month with "Celebrate Chinatown," featuring The Shanghai Pearl. This next show, "Celebrate North Beach," will star Bombshell Betty and other local performers such as comedian Jeff Applebaum, interpreters of Argentine Tango Trio Garufa, aerialist Marina Luna, contortionist Dwoira Scheffer, and Teatro ZinZanni star and favorite Christine Deaver. Plus more!

And, yes, there will only be one performance of this show, and it will be this Saturday night! The lobby doors open at 11:15 p.m., so the show will probably start close to midnight. It's great timing if you're getting out of an earlier show and are looking for something fun to do late at night.

The Shanghai Pearl in Teatro ZinZanni's Cabaret Lunatique this Saturday, March 19

This Saturday night at the glamorous Spiegeltent on Pier 29, Seattle's The Shanghai Pearl will be starring in Teatro ZinZanni's Cabaret Lunatique. This will be the first in a series of late night cabaret shows throughtout the year focusing on the neighborhoods of North Beach, Mission, Castro, Fillmore/Jazz, Haight Ashbury, SOMA, On the Waterfront and The Hills.

This first cabaret is “Celebrate Chinatown." Also on the bill are local indie rock band Johnny Hi-Fi, aerialist Alexa Hukari, SF Opera Adler Fellow baritone Ao Li, acrobat and magician Calvin Kai Ku, and acclaimed musician Bei Bei Zheng! It is sure to be an evening of stellar entertainment with a diverse group of acclaimed performers!

These cabarets are a great way to get the Teatro ZinZanni experience late at night and at an affordable price. Bunny Hut Burlesque cancelled...but across the bay there's Knocktoberfest!

Yes, bad news...October's Bunny Hut Burlesque has been cancelled. And according to a MySpace bulletin Bunny Pistol posted, there won't be one until December. And no Eddie Dane as host...

On the other hand, Eddie's partner in crime, Kingfish, will be hosting Knocktoberfest across the bay at the Uptown Nightclub In Oakland! Join Dangerous Curves (including my buddy, sASSy Hotbuns!) as they put on a burlesque show backed by a live '80s band, Fast Times. Proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure fund to fight breast cancer. A worthy cause! And fun!

Okay. Say you're absolutely against going across a bridge. All is not lost! Tease-O-Rama MC Kitten on the Keys is appearing with local ecdysiast Mariel A la Mode at Teatro ZinZanni's Cabaret Lunatique! Saturday, October 11 only!

From what I gather, Cabaret Lunatique is on the Embarcadero (at Battery) in the Teatro Zinzanni tent at Pier 29. El Vez hosts, and there are various cabaret acts. The show starts at 11pm and runs about three hours. Best of all, it's "only" $20. Considering that the usual Teatro Zinzanni show is about $100, I may go just to see what's in the tent. Hehe.
