Labor Day weekend is upon us, which indicates the unofficial end of summer. Which also usually means the start of better weather around these parts, which means it's an ideal time to get out and catch some burlesque shows!
The new School of Shimmy Syndicate will be an after-party for the
Red Hots Burlesque shows on Wednesdays at
El Rio. The show will start at 10:00 p.m., after the Red Hots show.
Bombshell Betty has moved her
Haute House Burlesque show at
Milk Bar to the first Friday of each month, and it's a free show now! Check out this month's show which will also feature sideshow act
Molotov and musical guests
Vagabondage.
Oakland Pride is also happening this Sunday, and
Kentucky Fried Woman has her after-party at
Bench and Bar, with the doors opening at 7:00 p.m. There will be performances from
The Lady Ms. Vagina Jenkins,
Dottie Lux,
Alotta Boutté,
Scotty the Blue Bunny, and more!
On Labor Day, the
Hubba Hubba Revue show at Oakland's
Uptown Club will feature performances by performers from Sacramento's
Sizzling Sirens Burlesque Experience! Catch some of the hottest ecdysiasts from the Central Valley without having to stop for gas in Vacaville!
And
First Friday Follies will be having their Blue Velvet Highway Folllies show at Oakland's
Stork Club! If you're a David Lynch fan, you won't want to miss this show!

- Thursday, September 1: Red Hots Burlesque and El Rio present "Go Deep: Let's Wrestle!" at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Red Hots Burlesque SF's Best Bump and Grind have been conspiring with your friends at El Rio to bring you an all girl monthly lube wrestling party. No one can resist hot babes covered in glistening sex slick writhing and wriggling in attempts of pinning each other. You can come and watch or be a part of the action. Red Hots Burlesque brings you the "city's best" bump and grind at the "happiest hour" in the bay and newly noted "#3 burlesque show in the country to take your girl to"! This Friday, RHB's September Feature Performer Dorian Faust will be performing, along with Dottie Lux, Cheeky Lala, Scotty Blue Bunny, and hostess Joie De Vivre! 7:30pm. $5 to $10, sliding scale. 21+.
- Also Friday: First Friday Follies at the Stork Club in Oakland, 2330 Telegraph Avenue (map). See that clock in the wall, at First Friday Follies you're not going to believe what you're going to experience! This month it's Blue Velvet Highway Follies! Featuring the amazing talents of Monifa, Flynn Witmeyer, Dorian Faust, Professor Shimmy, Miss Twin Peaks, Bella Trixx, Pearl E. Gates, Rizzo Rogue, Truvy Trollop, Vaudie Va-Boom, and Francine Dead! With comedian Simone Campbell and music from Thralls! Free, but donations are appreciated! 21+.
- Also Friday: Bombshell Betty presents Haute House Burlesque with the Burlesqueteers at the Milk Bar in San Francisco, 1840 Haight Street (map). Haute House Burlesque returns with burlesque performances by some of the more experienced Burlesqueteers including two performances each by Bombshell Betty, Laura Borealis, Mistress Marla Spankx, Red Velvet, and Sindee Rose! With Side-Show-Sword-Swallowing-Stunts by Molotov and MC A. Randy Johnson! Music from Vagabondage! Doors at 9pm, show at 10pm. Free. 21+.
- Sunday, September 4: Kentucky Fried Woman's Oakland Pride Party Featuring DJ Luna at Bench and Bar in Oakland, 10 17th Street (map). A Pride after-party as only Kentucky Fried Woman can do it. Performances at 8pm, 9pm, and 10pm with dancing in between and all night long! Featuring The Lady Ms. Vagina Jenkins, Scotty the Blue Bunny, Simone de la Getto, Alotta Boutté, La Chica Boom, Dottie Lux, Landa Lakes, Brock Cocker, Lil Miss Hot Mess, Jay Walker & Delicio del Toro, Jake Danger & Lyric Styles, The Hot Totties, and Sheba, Queen of the Night! - Monday, September 5: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown Club in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue (map). It's Labor Day, so join the celebration with show featuring the ladies of Sacramento's Sizzling Sirens Burlesque Experience! Hosted by Kingfish, the show will feature the beautiful Jay Siren, Alijah Dresden, Meowie Wowie, Tenacity Jane, Sass Herass, and Pantichrist! Doors at 9pm, show at 10:15. $5. 21+.
- Wednesday, September 7: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). Join Dottie Lux for Red Hots Burlesque as it expands to its second day of the week! A new and different show twice a week, including bizarre beauties, senseless sideshow, drag, burlesque and comedy! 7:30pm. $5 to $10, sliding scale. 21+.
- Also Wednesday: The School of Shimmy Syndicate at El Rio in San Francisco, 3158 Mission Street (map). The Syndicate is back — as Wednesday's Red Hots Burlesque after-party at El Rio! Please join performers old and new for an evening of booze and boobs, fun and laughs.
