San Francisco area burlesque for the week of September 7, 2009

This week it looks like the shows are spread out over the whole week except for Sunday! :-)

There's a good variety of shows this week. In addition to the weekly and monthly shows, Kitten on the Keys will have a solo show at the Climate Theater Music Box Series on Tuesday. She'll perform songs which display all different facets of her performance personalities, which will be quite a treat for all Kitten fans!

Rock, Strip 'n Roll on Friday will feature live bands including Live Evil and Heavy Hindenberg with burlesque from Tit 4 Tat, Barbary Coast Burlesque, and Twilight Vixen Revue. All this will take place at Paradise Lounge in SOMA.

If you're a fan of erotic films, the Diamond Daggers will be appearing at the kick off event of the Good Vibrations Annual Independent Erotic Film Festival on Saturday at El Rio.

• Monday, September 7: Uptown Hubba Hubba at the Uptown in Oakland, 1928 Telegraph Avenue. Join the Labor Day No-Bridge party with Kingfish and Eddie! They'll be joined by Bunny Pistol, Delilah, The Twilight Vixens, Angelique X. Stacy, Lola Vauntz, Madam Chartreuse, Sparkly Devil, Gretl von BoomBoom, and good ole Zip the What-Is-It! • Tuesday, September 8: The Music of Kitten on the Keys and Suzanne Ramsey presented by the Climate Theater Music Box Series at Climate Theater in San Francisco, 285 9th Street. Suzanne Ramsey aka San Francisco's own Kitten on the Keys presents a unique show - the different facets of her musical personality. Suzanne Ramsey opens playing Tin Pan Alley treasures, bawdy blues, and classic rock- songs that inspire her as a performer on piano, ukulele, and accordion. She transforms into burlesque character Kitten on the Keys - swathed in pink and a dirty mind.....to perform her double entendre dripped original cabaret charmers that will stir your nethers and tickle your funnybone. Door at 7:30pm, show at 8. $7-15, sliding scale.


• Wednesday, September 9: Barbary Coast Burlesque at Annie's Social Club in SF, 917 Folsom Street. Join Bunny Pistol and emcee Eva Von Slut for midweek mayhem of bombshell beauties including sASSy Hotbuns, Amelia Paradise, Lily Le Rouge, Miss De Minna, Sparkly Devil, Kellita, Josie Starre, Bunny Pistol, and Polly Peabody! Doors at 8pm, show 8:30-9ish. $5, 21+ w/ID.


• Thursday, September 10: Little Minsky's at Club Deluxe in SF, 917 Folsom Street. Little Minsky's is brought to you by Douglas Good (of Cabaret Verdalet), The Flying Fox (burlesque glamour girl) and a few shady characters (they dare not name). Doors at 9pm, show at 10. $5, 21+ w/ID.
  


• Friday, September 11: Red Hots Burlesque at El Rio in SF, 3158 Mission Street. It's the all-NY expatriate show, I (Still) Love NY!. Hosted by Scotty the Blue Bunny, and starring The Flying Fox, Precious Moments, Lady Satan, Dottie Lux, exHOTic other & maybe even some comedy with the bountiful Simone Campbell! Show at 7:30pm. $5-10 sliding scale, 21+ w/ID.


• Also Friday: Rock, Strip 'n Roll! at Paradise Lounge in SF, 1501 Folsom Street. An eclectic mix of rock bands and burlesque dancers! Heavy Hindenburg (a Led Zeppelin cover band), The Gun n' Doll Show (rock band) and Live Evil (hard rock band) will all be playing separate sets, with burlesque intermissions by Tit 4 Tat, Barbary Coast Burlesque, and Twilight Vixen Revue! Hosted By MC Notorious Ang. Doors at 8pm, show at 9. Tickets $10, 21+ w/valid ID.
  


• Saturday, September 12: Diamond Daggers at Good Vibrations Annual Independent Erotic Film Festival Kick Off Party at El Rio in SF, 3158 Mission Street. Celebrate Good Vibrations’ Fourth Annual Independent Erotic Film Festival with a special release screening of indie-porn princess Courtney Trouble’s new film, Speakeasy. Join the filmmaker for a special screening, and get hot and bothered by Amelia Mae Paradise & Diamond Daggers! Enjoy a patio clip-show, DJ Justin Credible, our Wheel of Pleasure for free prizes, and pick up a sexy something from Lusty Lady “cigarette girls” selling Good Vibrations’ finest. 9pm. $7, 21+ w/ID.

Climate Theater Music Box Series Presents The Music of Kitten on the Keys and Suzanne Ramsey on Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Yes, this is a chance to catch Kitten on the Keys, otherwise known as Suzanne Ramsey, in a solo show free of chatter from the bar and the clinking of glasses and utensils on plates!

Kitten is one of the premier burlesque performers in the world. She's been an emcee at Tease-O-Rama and Miss Exotic World, been featured in books about the art of burlesque, and performed at many of the shows in San Francisco and in various cities in around the world. She'll even be in a film portraying a member of an American burlesque troupe in France.

The Climate Theater is a series of rooms, sort of like an art gallery. There are various works of art mounted in the theater, actually. I'm not sure in which of the rooms the show will be, but I think the largest would seat 60 or less, so get there early to get a ticket and a good seat. Kitten tends to be a popular draw, so I'd say be at the theater to purchase your ticket no later than 7:45, since the doors open at 7:30. Heck, to be really safe, get there at 7:15! :-P
