Cirque Noir offers their Burlesque Boot Camp in January 2011

Cirque Noir, SF Weekly's Best Aerial Burlesque Dance Troupe for 2010, will be offering their two-day Burlesque Boot Camp this coming January 15-16 at Dance Ground Keriac, 1805 Divisadero Street (map) in San Francisco.

Cirque Noir's Burlesque Boot Camp

Have you always wanted to learn the sultry art of strip tease and burlesque? Is there a sexy, sweet, campy,or even dangerous vixen within you? Come spend the weekend with the dancers of Cirque Noir (pictured) for our raucous Burlesque Boot Camp. Learn the basics of classic burlesque chair dance, working with props, and developing your own choreography and unique burlesque persona. This workshop will cover all that it takes to be a burlesque dancer from strength, flexibility, and choreographic exploration, to character development,hair and make up. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from the women voted,"Best Aerial Burlesque Group" by SF weekly- Ana Hyatt, Amanda Bassalino and Deb Arana.

With special guest, hair and make up expert,Sabrina Pudoff.

This workshop is open to all levels. Beginners welcome!

Baxtalo Drom's Nomad's Curse at Amnesia on Friday, April 23

Our old friend from Hubba Hubba Revue, Kingfish, will be the emcee for Baxtalo Drom's Nomad's Curse at Amnesia in San Francisco this Friday.

The show, which happens at Amnesia on the fourth Friday of each month, will feature dancers Deb Rubin and Fatima. Check out that description of Fatima, "Egyptian disco temptress and tent tart." Cirque Noir Aerial Burlesque tonight and next weekend, June 19 and 20, 2009

I'm always on the lookout for new burlesque events, and a reader named Lisa emailed me today that Cirque Noir Aerial Burlesque will be performing tonight, June 13, and next weekend, June 19 and 20 at 8pm. This apparently is an encore performace of shows they had in April.

I found an article by SFGate.com's Trey Bundy, which describes the performance artists' preparation for the show. He writes, "Their new show combines a New Orleans-style masquerade ball with cheeky burlesque and modern aerial dance broken into 10 vignettes."
